I echo the sentiment about Brubaker. It sucks that they decided to do this, but Brubaker is doing it with class.
Now, if Marvel really had the stones they would have killed Spiderman. However, with all of the movies, merchandise, etc. associated with him, that would have been a disaster. Captain America was the next best thing and the "safe" bet overall.
Actually, the more I think about it, I'm starting to worry about it a bit. I forget the exact quote, but they allude to somebody else taking up the costume by saying "Will Captain America return, in one form or another? Maybe, but Steve Rogers is dead".
I think as long as Quesada is in charge, they will keep Steve Rogers dead.

TALKING CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 WITH ED BRUBAKER - SPOILERS
http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=104256
NRAMA: Let’s move to some of the details of the story. First off, what specifically is Cap being arraigned for?
EB: Whatever he was arrested for at the end of Civil War. You'll have to ask Tom Brevoort.

I'm pretty pissed about this. I don't like killing a legend for such a weak reason. However, I mostly stopped reading long ago when Marvel's story writting went in the tank so its no loss to me. I picked up several of the Civil War comics since it seemed like they were finally doing something interesting. It all seemed like a clusterfuck to me and maybe one of the worst universal storylines I have read. I would take Secret Wars 2 over Civil War.
I won't be paying big money for this issue BTW. It seems like most of the issues were held back to put on ebay anyway. I'll just download a scanned version for free.

Second, if all we're waiting for is Quesada to die, that may be sooner than later as that fat f*** is due for a massive heart attack any day now.

If I was a small LCS I would be extremely pissed right now....
I got one of the Variant covers, not in the greatest shape, but I wanted to READ the issue, not sell it.

I was told that it was good I called because they sold out before I got there. *whew* (thanks, Doug, Mike, Jackson and Matt!)

I think I read some where that was an editorial frak up, but they're spinning it now, as Ms. Marvel was giving out false info to Spider-Woman.

Your Superman #75 comparison is flawed, I believe. This was an event that we knew about months in advance, and dealers over-ordered accordingly. The reason the book has gone down is partly because of the novelty wearing off and all the non-comic collectors selling off their copies, and the fact that this issue came out in the middle of one of the biggest comics booms and had an insanely high print run... meaning a lot of copies are out there.
Cap #25, on the other hand, was not an announced event, and many dealers did not over-order. We're not quite in a depression for comics right now (although it's close), but we're nowhere near the days of the mega-print run like we were with Superman #75. If Cap #25 even had a tenth of that print run, I'd be amazed.
I'd say a better comparison would be with JLA #69, the unannounced crossover issue with the Death of Superman storyline. The store I worked at was ordering several hundred of every Death of Superman issue, but we only ordered 10 copies of JLA. It was a crap title that didn't sell worth a damn... until that issue. We suddenly found ourselves over 100 copies short of what we needed. I might be wrong, but I think that for a while JLA #69 was worth more than the basic version of Superman #75 because the JLA issue was so damned scarce.
That being said, it'll still fall in value eventually... but I'd say that people have a good 6 months to buy and sell copies to turn over a profit. I'm considering sending mine off to be graded after seeing what the 9.8 copies are fetching on eBay.
Sorry if this is disjointed... I really should be in bed right now

You have a valid point on the print run of Superman #75 and the advance knowlege of the storyline a month or more before it was out. But, we also must remember that the comic market does not have anyewhere near the same amount of readers that it did back then. Also, Superman is a character who's popularity rivals Mickey mouse. The same can't be said about Captain America. He won;t be near as popular as supes is outside the US. Even in the U.S. many, many people have never heard of him or know little if anything about him even if they've heard of him.

According to this its not a 2nd print. They over printed the issue, knowing they were creating demand. But of course retailers couldn't order them when they needed them:

Heres some retailers feelings on getting burned:

Correct, there are going to be about 25k more issues released. What I was referring to was an actual 2nd printing which will happen later. We shall see, this is not my info, just what I was told.

Stopped by my LCS today. They said they are getting 50 more copies of the 1st print on next Wed. He said for some reason, they got more copies than they ordered, and actually had 120 copies on Wed, which lasted till 2PM

I don't think it's any coincidence that the Punisher is the one who actually picks up Cap's mask at the end of CW #7. I don't live and breathe Marvel, but these are the first allusions I've ever read to Frank Castle having a deep respect for Captain America.

Lying In The Gutters says this -
That is quite few copies.
But not to worry. I understand that Diamond have ordered an extra 100,000 copies, the entire order has been filled from Marvel's overprint and the issues are coming through the Memphis warehouse for Tuesday/Wednesday.
