Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I used to stop at my BAM regularly to check out the Marvel trades on clearance, but the last couple times I was in there they severely downgraded what they had. I think they went from about 2 book cases worth down to 2 shelves worth. I'll stop in again and see if it's gotten any better.

I bet you found Marvel titles very similar to this list. It appears these were written off recently.

B&N is running their B2G1 on Marvel trades which might work out better depending on what you get

Is this like the first time in forever where Amazon didn't issue a $5 off coupon any book for Black Friday? Or is there one going around?

I think I saw a $5 off $20 offer but didn’t click through and now can’t find it again so it could’ve been BF only.

I believe that was ebooks only.

No coupon for a single book for Amazon either this year, unless they drop it tomorrow for Cyber Monday.

They were running a B2G1 on select titles but I didn't notice until Friday and forgot to pull the trigger on anything, and it disappeared as soon as we entered December.

I don't think there's much competition from BN this year - I think I saw a 10% coupon on their site that claims not to stack with any other promotion. Everything under their graphic novel B2G1 is a minimal discount, close to MSRP. I guess they finally realized they lost money on B2G1 when regular discounted price was sometimes 40+% off and it stacked with the 20 or 25 or 30% off one-item coupons.

No TFAW progressive sale this year either, but they did have some things on 50%+ discount if you comb through title by title. Don't think that pricing has anything to do with the holidays though.

Has anyone purchased from HamiltonBook.Com lately? They've got some incredible prices. If so, are the DC books still free of remainder marks? I assume Marvel has never stopped their practice of marking their remainders.

Now that Barnes & Noble's new owners have pulled in the reins on copious coupons, Amazon doesn't have any real pricing competition on books. I can only imagine what media pricing on Amazon will look like when retailers give up the ghost and stop carrying media.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

There is a 5 off 20:

This replaced the B2G1F that most of those same books had for the past few days. Not much in the way of comics, though.

Thanks. There's 20 pages stuff if you filter down to books then comics/graphic novels, although some non-comic stuff is in that mix too. Some stuff from the b2g1, but more TPBs in the sub-$15 range too.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Barnes & Noble is having their B2G1 on Marvel/DC/Image, but looking through the Marvel list, it appears it's only certain items, where as before I'm pretty sure it was everything Marvel that they had. The sale went from decent when combining coupons and discounted gift cards to basically worthless for me since nothing on my wishlist is part of the sale.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Yeah, some pretty good deals in those 1200 comic-related books. I picked the Oh No! webcomic collection, and the Superman vs Muhammad Ali collection from DC. Thanks for finding the coupon fuji.

Dang, I had three books in my cart, went to lunch, and one of them lost eligibility.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I'm probably missing something here in terms of a defined sale, but Amazon is doing a ton of digital coupons on individual books. I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to what is eligible (many of the ones that appeared on the b2g1 and spend $20 save $5 lists have coupons), but I just got a bunch of DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, and Fantagrahics hardcovers for 50+% off after the coupons (which seem to go up to $7 a book). If you have a wish list or know what individual books you're after, it's probably worth a shot to see if there's a coupon on the product page that brings it down to a cheap price. There doesn't seem to be a limit on how many coupons you can clip and purchase.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

By the way...got that behemoth I posted above in last week and it is badass. A truly beautiful set.

In other news, my favorite comic history company, www.twomorrows.com is having a sale during these troubling times to help stay afloat. Think about supporting them if you can. All their publications are awesome. I recommend Back Issue! the most though their new magazine RetroFan is freaking awesome as well for us GenXers.

Is not a big list and most of them sold within minutes before retailers could scoop them up but there are some great prices there. I spoke with my LCS and I'm getting the King-Size Kirby Treasury, Stan Lee Treasury and the Marvel Legacy of Jack Kirby all for $50 each
