According to a friend of mine (not kidding) that works on Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis is simply a reboot of the pre-crisis worlds idea that DC had for years. Things will be a bit different, but you WILL have more than one version of heroes and baddies showing up.

Oh, that's right. I forgot about those discounts when ordering online. Yee haw. Order online. Order online.

There was a quote from some DC guys that IC will see the end of the dark and gritty DC Universe. I'm not sure what I think about that. I like the mixture of the dark stuff and the outlandish superhero stuff.

Does that mean they are going to go old school and have Batman and Superman playing baseball, going camping, and stuff like that?

Uh... how "dark and gritty" is the DC universe, outside of the various bat books? If anything, IC seems to be making things darker and grittier...

I was under the impression that DC would go back to the Golden age of superhero storytelling. Hopefully not to the degree of playing baseball and laughing with little kids in wheelchairs.

I shouldn't have used the term dark and gritty. Maybe they will be less adult. More fun. Action. I don't know.

The "dark and gritty" quote was from Mark Waid. Some writers are happy about it...some aren't.

If I had wanted "happy fun shit" I'd read ARCHIE COMICS......

I think there needs to be a nice mixture. I like the dark and gritty more than the happy smiley stuff, but at the same time, there needs to be some light in those dark tales.

Ugh, cracked the $100 mark on this month's order.

Stupid DCBS and their 50% off trades I didn't really intend on getting.

Hell, I cracked $300 last month, but that included some x-mas gifts for the kids and the betty boop statue for my wife.

I have the first three also. But the real question is this: If I buy this monster bad boy, will I want to buy the trades moving forward? If so, will I trade those in for these hardcovers too? That's a waste. If not, then I'll be waiting two years between stories. Hmmmm.

$100 SRP for Walking Dead? It's in color this time, right?

Kidding!

You know, I don't need this. $100? $50? For something I have already. Forget about it.

And I bought my three trades for $21 all together, so I'm with you. At the end of the day it's the same content, well story anyways. Though you all have kind of turned me into a format whore and it's getting harder and harder to pass on hardcovers. However the Runaways Vol. 1 HC (I think it was 17 issues?) cost me about $17. Now that's a no-brainer.

I think it was last month when someone was expelling the virtues of Don Rosa's "Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck". I would have NEVER bought this, but decided to give it a try because I always liked Ducktales...and damn if this isn't one of the finest comics I've ever read. I'm still in the beginning (up to the third story), but I'm spacing it out because its a fun, but dense read (lots of panels, lots of words, and the pictures are so gorgeous that I can't just skim them). So thanks to whomever it was who pointed this book out (I'm too lazy to go back and look).

I hate you boredsilly. You've made me realize that I too am a format whore. Who am I to turn away a HC now when I recently did the exact same thing for Hush, Runaways, and Invincible?

To be fair, the price tag doesn't bother me that much. There seems to be three markets as far as collected editions go. The trade paperback, the HC, and then the collectible/ultimate/special editions. The latter of those three can really be priced at whatever they want and I won't complain as long as the story is still offered in one or two of the first options. If this was the only way to buy the collected Walking Dead I would be pissed.

It's just the DVDTalker way to be a cheap bastard outside of buying HT equipment

I'm reading Essential Defenders right now and it has made me remember how much I love Sal Buscema. The man never got the credit he was due. He produced cosistently excellent work and never felt the need to be overly flashy. I miss this kind of comic.

All, I'm one step closer to pulling the plug on Bookshelf Comics. I recently took a promotion at work, and I no longer have the time or energy I need to do a quality job on the site. Anyway, do any of you have suggestions on what I can do? Should I simply pull the plug? Try to sell the domain? Should I leave the content up? If so, for how long...I don't want to pay for the space forever.

Anyway, any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

Step #1 -- Try to sell the domain.

Worry about step #2 and beyond if there aren't any takers.
