I am also reading this book (the same version). I am in page 168 of 1141, so I still have a long way to go. Until this point I am enjoying it.

Maybe we can discuss it when we are done with it.

So what is the best version of the Stand to read?

Yeah, that'd be cool. Maybe someone should start a "book club" thread at some point. I'm a slow reader - after two months (?) I'm at around page 600 right now - so who knows when I'll get to it.

I really want to check out the miniseries and comic adaption afterward. It's kind of cool that I've never seen the former or read the latter, so I didn't go in with a preconceived notion of how the book's characters should look or sound (though a friend did tell me some of the cast members after I started the book, so I can't help but "see" them sometimes when I read; I made him stop after the initial disclosure). That's usually not the case when I tackle a book after an adaption's been released.

I have. I thought it started out really good, then the kid went into the fantasy world and at first it was too much like a video game and I almost quit reading it. Luckily after a bit it broke away from that and it ended up being pretty good (which is why I got this one).

How was this? I haven't read anything by Lippman yet, but after I finished Freedom, I plan to start I'd Know You Anywhere.

I enjoyed it. It was the first Tess Monaghan book to be set outside of Baltimore. This one takes place in San Antonio.
