This is in no way indicative of a new restoration for the earlier releases - the reviews all link to the individual old releases. And a review from 2008 for 'Die Hard 1' is sadly not any reflection of reference quality - specially when catalog titles are being given stellar treatment from some of the studios. Fox has been notoriously lazy with some of its franchises hoping that the popularity of the movies will make the sales than giving the loyal viewer something that takes full advantage of the bluray platform - only of course, with a full fledged restoration.

No to that question and you simply can't expect new transfers for the Die Hard movies by this point from Fox. If a new sequel didn't motivate them to give the franchise new transfers, there is little hope they will bother to re-do them in the future.

Never say "never". Fox could come back and re-master these in the future, making a 10-disc Yippie-Ky-Yayyy! Edition. These kinds of editions, I wait...and I wait a LONG TIME before I actually buy the collection.

I love Die Hard... but I'm holding out as well... shitty transfers, and unrated version of live free absent from blu... shameful.

(and I am usually not that picky... but these days budget is tight, and i can't deal with this... and Disney's Oz 3D nonsense either for that matter)
