Really need Breaking Bad but that still seems high for 8 episodes.

I'm definitely holding off. I was able to get the other four for an average of $14 per season... the current pricing for what amounts to a half season is a bit crazy.

If you still need to watch those last eight, they're on Netflix now. I didn't know it until I noticed the BB picture in my queue said, "New Episodes" on it. Before that, I assumed I would just have to wait for the whole show to be over.

Nah, already seen it but I'm in the middle of a marathon before I watch the final 8. Doesn't look like it's free on Prime yet.

A show as good as Elementary doesn't even get blu-ray treatment? Ugh...I'll wait until it hits $15 then.

Exactly. I got all of the other full seasons for under $20 (I jumped a bit early on a couple of them). When BB had the $25 back in RZ certs for $100 TV purchases, I grabbed Breaking Bad S5 at $29.99 in desperation to find something else. Thankfully the BB employee was familiar with it and warned me it was only a half season so I put it back and found something else instead. At first I said "no way they'd charge this much for only half a season", but sure enough he was right.

Full season BD for under $20 or forget it on Breaking Bad S5. I'm in no hurry having only made it through the first 4 episodes of S1 (yes, I wish I had time but right now SG-1 and Walking Dead are higher priority).

It's on the wrong network and in the wrong genre for Blu-ray release.

Wrong Network, okay I get that. Wrong Genre? It's action/adventure, last I checked. Most of those on normal blu-ray loving networks get that treatment since they benefit from that. Just my opinion but it would have been nice if Elementary got some better treatment.

My guess is that they think it skews toward women. Same thing with Castle.

Once Upon a Time has mainly female viewers, yet it's on BD. I dunno. But it does seem that most TV shows from the main 4 networks choose to release DVD only, and not BD.

It's an older-skewing, episodic mystery series. No one in Hollywood would consider Elementary an action/adventure series.

True--no car chases nor explosions plus actual dialogue and character development....

The fantasy genre helps, I'm sure, but yeah, you can't always predict what they're gonna do. Sci-fi and action are your best bets, and then they will throw occasional things against the wall, but I think the numbers show that there aren't enough people willing to pay for the premium product to make it worthwhile to release the product in two formats.

+1. The salesperson I've talked to at Barnes and Noble said that BDs don't sell well unless they're Action/SciFi. Of course, this may also be partly explained by BNs clientele.
