Did you place the order with the 2 day shipping? Or did you do the slower shipping with the free credit?

I did the regular Prime shipping. I checked and it appears that Escape From New York is the hold up. But damn, ship the other titles. I got Prime Shipping. If they wait until the other title is in stock...the other titles might go out of stock for another week or so...

Amazon has mostly killed off its entire competition for niche media, they do as they please now with orders.

I think next time I'll just order titles separately for a sale like this. Seems like Amazon wants/is pushing for MORE PACKAGES moving around.

Usually there is an option for that when ordering. Something like ship packages separately if available sooner or something like that.

They certainly seem to do that when offering digital credits for slow shipping. I tend to break my orders into individual items just for that purpose.

Motel Hell and Terror Train arrived today from the Scream Factory sale and Squirm is coming tomorrow. Have just about all the titles I ordered now except a couple. So far I've gotten slip covers on all the titles I've received. Hopefully the rest that are coming arrive with them too.

This time it's "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" Extended Edition for $12.09, while the rest are at $20. Let's see if this holds....

I assume there's going to be a cheap box set for all three in the not too distant future.

Box set? Definitely. Cheap? I doubt it.

Box sets are usually cheaper than buying the individual titles. Is there some reason to believe otherwise for The Hobbit?

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

The LOTR Extended BD set has been a Gold Box deal a number of times so I figure that'll happen for The Hobbit.

Lord of the Rings was around $100 when it was first released. If you got in on these deals for The Hobbit, it would have cost ~$40 for the extended trilogy. There's no way a box set is going to be less than $40 when it's released. Sure it'll drop in time (a year or two after release), but not any time soon.

Tempting to get these individually as I like the packaging.

Maybe. There could be a smaller Extended Set which has just the films, and is only 3 discs.

I still have my eyes set on the UK Trilogy 3D Extended Set which sometimes hits around $65 (40 GBP). But this should be around $50 by the end of the year.

There already is a box set of the Extendeds, -its currently $80 at Best Buy, -its just not 3D.

That's one of the beauties of Prime. Its great being able to order everything individually.

I spent way too much money on multiple versions of the LOTR trilogy. I'm waiting at least 5 years before I buy anything Hobbit-related.

I bought basic br's of all 3 on BF (I believe); I don't remember which were extended. I'm with you; any additional Hobbit purchase is a ways down the road when prices plummet.

And "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies" Extended Edition is back to $20.

Once I have seen the movies I usually wait for the price to drop ( I have the nice individual LOTR DVD extended sets)

I was able to get LOTR Blu Ray extended Trilogy at Amazon for 27.99 last December - plus I had $20 gift card from a survey - so I got it for 7.99 :)

Will wait for the Hobbit extended price to drop - I have already seen the movies.

Had to email Amazon and request they ship the available items NOW from that Shout Factory bullshit sale. My order is on a "ship items as they become available" so I'm not sure what the hold up is. I looked up each of my titles, and Shocker and Lord Of Illusions is shipping immediately and Escape From New York is the one not available to ship (OOS).

Both of my items, -which I ordered separately as single items, -appear to be available, -but they're not shipping either.

Just looked. They are only available from third party sellers fulfilled by Amazon. If you order directly from Amazon, which the sale was, then they are still out of stock.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Amazon is telling me to cancel and re-order separately but I told them if they can guarantee the price then fine, otherwise, not really an option.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

They've been doing this with a lot of recent "hot" media sales. I have a CD on order that just came out a month ago and they haven't filled the order in three weeks.

I've been waiting for Amazon to announce they are dropping media altogether. After decimating their media competition, they don't care anymore about those customers.
