Ok stupid question: what time do the Gold Box deals start? 12am PST?

Lightning Deals 2012

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Lightning Deals Calender - 2012 Ed.

If anyone is thinking about getting the BD for Magic City season 1 in the Lightning deal, get it at Best Buy instead. Best Buy has it for $14.99. I believe Amazon's Lightning deal is for $20.99

Plus, it's only an 8 episode season.

The 420pm to 820pm PT Lightning deals actually suck IMO. The Vampire Diaries season 3 is the fucking DVD version. I would have done it in a heartbeat if it was the BD.

Their lightning deal price for Lord of the Rings Extended has dropped to $39.99, presumably due to Best Buy having it for that price today.

Thanks for the heads up on Magic City. Not sure yet if I am going to get it or hold off on it but nice to know it is cheaper elsewhere. Though I will wait and see if Amazon matches that price.

Is now a good time to get the Hitchcock set for $150, or do you think it will go lower?

Just put together a very solid haul:

Breaking Bad: Season Four Blu-ray + Prep and Landing Blu-ray + Vampire Diaries: Season Three DVD for ~$32 shipped, after the $5 for $25 coupon and all promotions.

As for Amazon's leak, the next three weeks are the most critical time of the year for their sales and profitability. Every dollar someone spends at another retailer is a dollar they don't spend at Amazon. You can bet that Amazon's marketing team, which is obsessed with following viral social networks, is carefully crafting the public release of prices. Amazon did not become the world's biggest Internet retailer playing the game with its head in the sand.

Not a very helpful reply^^

Here's the answer I was looking for:
Indiana Jones set at $29.99 on 11/24
Bond 50 for $109.99 Gold Box on 11/24

Yeep! Vampire Diaries sure sold out fast! Luckily I checked on my phone app at a traffic light at 7:42 and saw it was already 89% claimed. Promptly pulled over and snagged it then. Close one.

It's from Universal and much of the box set has been panned by reviewers. It will be under $100 within a year, possibly sooner. If you don't mind different packaging and the loss of North by Northwest, it can be had at this very moment from Australia for under $100. Yes, the discs play fine in America.

I assume this is the answer you were expecting, here is a complete thread devoted to the deal on another forum.

I will clue people in to something they may not like to hear on here. In the fast-paced world of Black Friday deals, even for DVDs and Blu-rays, this forum doesn't get enough posts to stay on top of all the best deals. I would not be using DVDTalk as my primary Blu-ray deals site for Black Friday, if I were interested in staying on top of all the latest deals and rumors.

On the fence about this as I already have the SD versions. It may not be enough of an upgrade. Plus I nearly forgot in my BF planning this year that I am now a tax victim of Amazon and the highest sales tax in the country to boot. Adding another $3.50 to the HOLMES set doesn't make it anymore attractive to me.

As I can't remember from last year, I figure I'd ask here. For the quickest snagging of a lightning deal, does one have to click the link on the lightning deal page or can you simply reload the product page at the time the lightning deal goes live?

last year you had to do it from the lightning deals page.

Yep. Either there or on the product's page. Either is a crap shoot if the product is popular, although the timer to complete the deal is ALOT quicker than last year. I believe you have three minutes.

SOME sales sell out in a few seconds. Nothing beats seeing the actual countdown timer along with the purchase icon coming up ... unless you're a 'spit into the wind' kinda guy. In that case, doing multiple refreshes on the product page in the hopes that nothing will go wrong is the way to go.

I wasn't really paying attention to the one item I purchased ... but it wasn't that short. I'm thinking 10 minutes ... others will know for sure.
