According to their pricing model; the TV will either be priced at $20 more than a new one or less than half of what was reasonable to expect

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

I do love how they always put up the banners that say, "Only this location closing", or something like that when they are doing these sales... my last local location is closing down, one out of the remaining close by a state over is closing too... Im amazed three are still open

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

Yeah lmao, even though every single BB is closing in my area every one has that same banner.

For some reason this week the prices stayed the same, still 7.99 at my nearest location. Still full of blu-rays. I do have my eyes on a few magazines though, I'm going to wait until they hit the 50% off price point though. They've got a really cool Rue Morgue issue "top horror you've never seen" or something like that.

A lot of my blockbusters have been selling cases 5 for $1, I think so far that's my favorite sale haha, I've been able to get rid of some of those ugly rental cases and replace them with nice ones.

I stopped at the Allen Park, MI store a couple of days ago and it was pathetic. They had a bazillion BDs in sleeves on a table and were asking $8 each for them. Yeah, that's not gonna happen.

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

The Store in Council Bluffs IA is closing. The prices are still very high. Most of there $9.99 blurays can be found brand new on amazon for $7.99 with Prime shipping. But I did grab these. Then I found the same two movies at family video for $9.95 but with real cases and not the ugly rental cases.

The Amazing Spiderman $9.99
The Watch $9.99

The Amazing Spiderman and The Watch were even cheaper at familyvideo.com - $6.99 each

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

I miss the hell out of the Family Video that used to be by my house. It was a great place to rent and the people were always able to recommend something new to me. It was one of the guys in there that turned me on to The Seven Samurai. Used to be a Movies to Go, then Moovies and ended as Family Video. Now it's a Dollar Tree or something similar. Thanks for the tip on The Amazing Spiderman.

(1) Ted Unrated Blu-ray Disc (USED) (025192114649) = $6.99
(1) Grey Blu-ray (USED) (025192148606) = $7.99
(1) Dredd Blu-ray Disc (USED) (031398163763) = $8.49
(1) Amazing Spider-Man Blu-ray (USED) (043396409705) = $6.99

Less than $35 shipped!

Also, Iamlegend, the Ankeny Iowa store is closing in April as well. I have not been in to check out any deals.

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

I stopped in the Grosse Pointe store on Sunday and they were asking $5.99 for BDs in sleeves and $2.99 for DVDs. Ugh. I looked through the meager assortment of Blus and filed Tron Classic and Tangled in a corner of the rack. Last night (Monday), I decided to go back for them because they'll never get that cheap and was pleased to see that the prices had dropped to $2.99 and $1.99 respectively. I picked up 9 Blus and 13 DVDs at those prices and my g/f got 13 DVDs of her own. Some gems to be snagged if you dig, like I found the feature disc of the Criterion of The Third Man. I also found, but didn't buy, Disc 3 of the Criterion Brazil, the "Love Counquers All" disc. Couldn't find the rest. They had a couple copies of the Spider-Man 3 extras BD in the mess. Weird.

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

Stopped by the Canandaigua, NY store today. As you might expect, big sign; This Location Only. I was hoping to grab some Warehouse 13 but they didn't have any. They were selling everything not nailed down or painted white though. I pulled a couple Blu's from the pile of rentals with no cases for $2.99 then changed my mind. I have some cases at home but I guess I just didn't need to own them. Walked out empty handed. DVD's were still $7.99 and although I wasn't in the market I'm sure many can be had for much less on half.com even with shipping.

California (Sacramento Area)
7831 Sunrise Blvd. Citrus Heights, CA
7291 Greenback Lane Citrus Heights, CA

Both of these locations are closing. Used DVDs are $6.99 or less at the Sunrise locations and $7.99 or less at the Greenback one.

Even with all of the closings there's still at least two open locations that I know of by me.

Mcfly- what other Sacramento stores will be left? The Greenback store was one I wasn't sure about but you said that one's closing- only ones I don't know about now are on Northgate and the one in West Sac. The one on Folsom Blvd near 65th is closing- serves them right for putting a 49er Video in the same shopping complex out of business after they moved in! (Yes, I'm enjoying watching this company die maybe a little too much!)

The Amazing Spiderman $9.99
The Watch $9.99
The one on Broadway or the one by the Mall? Or both?

That is too bad. I bought a ridiculous amount of $5 games from both of those stores a couple of years ago.

I really hope that the Blockbuster on my way to/from work stays open. Their $15/mo blue ticket is a really good value IMO.

I remember when the Northgate store opened a few years back. I was still living in Natomas at the time. There was a store at Douglas and Sierra College in Roseville that was only open for about 3 months then went out of business. You almost wonder why they bother opening new locations.

There's three that I know of actually --

Greenback and Hazel in Orangevale
Foothills Blvd. in Roseville
Walerga Rd. in Antelope

Next round of closings I'm sure these will go.

Ha- if there's another round of closings, they probably won't have stores left anywhere! Oh what a happy day that will be...

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

Stopped at the Allen Park store where sleeved DVDs are $1 and BDs are $2; cased BDs are $5.

They had a lot more sleeved selection than Grosse Pointe did, but what's the deal with a bunch of copies of the same title? They had over a dozen copies of The House Bunny, Mummy Tomb of Dragon Emperor, Legion, and others etc.

Re: Blockbuster Closing Store Bargains Thread 2012

The sleeved discs are from their fullfillment centers (mail order rental). They have recently closed several fullfillment centers. I suspect they are shifting extras from closing location to closing location. One of mine had about 20 copies of March of the Penguins yesterday.
