Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

After reading some of tonight's posts, I took a run over to my local BB to look for Ben-Hur and Kane. There were several copies of "Kane" on the shelf with a tag saying "$10.something". Easy. I found two copies of the "Ben Hur" set with the figure (and two more without it), -no price indicated. I stood in line for over 90 minutes (and if I'd known that I wouldn't have drank all that soda before I left the house). The chasier said my total was "70-something" and I immediately went into my "Ben-Hur Pricing Argument" that I'd been running over in my head for the last two hours. She looked confused and then I looked at the register, -"Ben Hur" went through fine, but "Kane" was $60! I told the CSR where I got it and she took the BR and the shelf tag and vanished for about 5 minutes. WHen she came back she said it wasn't the Best Buy Exclusive version and the price was correct and that was that. Fortunately, "Ben Hur" was the one I really wanted, so the trip was worth it in the end.

The Citizen Kane that's on sale is the digibook, not the UCE.

Stopped at BB on my way to work this morning at 10. Still plenty of Kane on the shelf, priced at $35 on the tag, but thankfully rang up at 10.99

Can't believe Inception isn't available for shipping! There's no fucking way I'm going there to pick it up.

If anyone missed the Amazon Mad Men Season 4, it's still $8.99 on the BB site with Free Shipping.

Was really hoping Amazon would price match Ben Hur.

Amazon has it for $4.99 right now as a lightning deal. It's 98% claimed though.

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

Went back to BB at 0930 this morning. Several digibooks of "Citizen Kane" on the shelf and two "Ben-Hur" boxes with the statuette (2 more without). Both Kane and the statue version of BH rang up for $10.99, of course. No line at checkout! Very smooth. It helps living in a rural area where no one is interested classic films (at least no one shopping at BB).

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

I thought Best Buy really sucked except for the Ben Hur UCE set. Their $7.99 blu-rays were mostly the same as the $5 Wal Mart deals.

They had some pretty good prices on blu-ray digibooks(for those that are into those types of packaging).

They also had quite a few 3D blu's on sale too, but then again we're talking to a selective group. Though I still find $18 a bit steep for a 40 min. documentary.

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

are people getting the large UCE of Ben Hur...the one with the book...or is this the smaller discs only? Just had them scan the UCE with the book and it was $59.99....

This has been answered in the Ben Hur thread, and earlier in this thread as well. To repeat: These are the big sets, but you must get the Best Buy exclusive version which comes with a metal figurine. That is the version that is on sale. The regular big set without the figurine is not on sale. If you are super-lucky you might get a clerk to give you the other one for that price, but most people are being denied the price on the non-exclusive set.

The Ben-Hur set is available online again (although it is listed as backordered, it can be purchased).

Ditto: Citizen Kane.

Also, Mad Men Season 4 is available again.

Thanks. I ordered Citizen Kane. I'd order Ben Hur but I don't have the shelf space.

Yep, me too. It's on my "really should watch sometime soon" list. But that's a long list.

Thanks, I ordered both. Also ordered a back ordered 3D Blu-ray. All of the sold out ones seem back-order able again.

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

Just picked up the Ben Hur set in store. As others have said, the set with the figurine scans at the sale price.

Always pays to look again - I picked up Ben Hur earlier today, but missed Citizen Kane. Just ordered it at bestbuy.com an hour ago for store pickup tomorrow.

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

went back this morning and just had them scan the box for the Ben Hur UCE set and I'm golden now.

Still not happy with the way they handled it last night.

Re: Best Buy Black Friday ad

went by Best Buy around noon today and it was pretty much dead. Was able to pick up Cop Out for $7.99 and Alice In Wonderland (new Disney one) for $9.99. I expected the movie section to be more picked over than it was.
