This Memento blu ray is not a new release, right. I've had this disc for awhile now since it showed up at Kmart for $5.99.

There's two Memento Blu-rays. The first was a single-layer disc with an MPEG2 encoding and only a few extras. The 10th Anniversary Edition is a dual-layer Blu-ray with a new transfer and AVC encoding, and almost all the extras of the LE DVD, sans the chronological cut of the film.

The 10th Anniversary Edition was released last February, and this is the first I've seen it that cheap. You likely have the inferior first Blu-ray release.

Here's reviews of the two releases:

I believe the one Kmart had for $5.99 was the 10th Anniversary Edition.

I found a thread where the 10th Anniversary Edition was $7.99 at Kmart last March:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/blu-ray-bar...-mart-b-m.html

It was still $7.99 at Kmart in August:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/blu-ray-bar...8-13-11-a.html

I can't find any references, either on this site or elsewhere online, that the Blu-ray was ever $5.99 at Kmart.

$6.99 is the cheapest it's ever been at Amazon:

I can't decide if I should buy Monty Python and the Holy Grail for the umpteenth time, just because it's on BLU ray and is $12.99 right now, or not.

There's also new Blu-ray exclusive extras:

I just watched them last night. The video quality of these are really, really good, as good as the actual feature.

The Lost Animations extra is 18 minutes long, but 9 minutes of that is an intro/commentary of Terry Gilliam talking over the lost footage (including alternate takes and tiny snippets) and even playing a cut Neil Innes song. That's followed by "finished" versions of some of the longer animated segments. Having watched this extra using the "play all" button, I'd recommend others to instead watch the animation segments first, and the "intro" last.

The Extended Scenes and Outtakes features an intro with Terry Jones on camera talking about the extended scenes, interspersed with some clips of it, followed by the scenes themselves. It's largely additional dialogue, some of which I recognized from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail CD-ROM.

The iPad app sync "extra" seems extra offensive to me when I checked iTunes and discovered that the app is $5:

Thanks for the nudge to the inevitable. I will get it.

Regarding the $5 app, there is a comment on Amazon about it being free after a rebate with these details shown:

HOW TO GET THE SILLY REBATE for the iPad App: The instructions for the mail-in rebate from Sony are supposed to be on the back of a sticker on the outer wrapping, but some people are reporting there is no sticker so here's the information: (Quoted from a post at Blu-ray.com)

2. E-Receipt which was emailed after the purchase of the iPad app.
3. Name, complete street address (PO boxes not accepted except in ND), city, state and zip code printed on a piece of paper.

Send to:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail $5 Rebate

This title is sure to be on sale for $5.99 somewhere within a year, but by then the $5 rebate on the app may be expired. But then, the app could go free by then too.

On the other side of that, I have at least 2 or 3 commentaries where people complain that they're not being paid at all for the work.

I'm guessing within the next couple of months. Maybe not $5.99, but every Sony title has been for sale at Fry's for $7.99 within a couple of months of its release.

I'm holding off on the Holy Grail until it lowers in that range. I don't care about the app anyway because I have no intention of buying an iPad.

Interesting. I was considering doing the same thing. Are you actually combining the discs into multi-disc Blu-Ray cases and throwing out the DVD packaging? I just can't bring myself to pitch some of the better looking DVD packaging.

Just a heads up that Workaholics Season 1 & 2 Combo is listed at $15.49. I only saw a couple episodes and really liked it, bought one.

I have had some problems over the past few years with Amazon shipping box sets in flimsy wraparound boxes or, in some cases, bubble mailers. That is unacceptable. In one case, they sent me a box set that was severely crushed and I complained about the packaging. They offered to replace the item and sent another one that was equally crushed in similar packaging. I don't care what you are selling... any item with packaging that can be crushed should never ship in anything less than a sturdy cardboard box!

Thanks, ordered! Had no idea this was coming on BD. I bought the DVD season 2 months ago for $9.99, but haven't opened it yet. Even if I take a slight loss, it's worth it for the upgrade, plus S2 for cheap...

I had completely forgotten about my Godfather Trilogy BD set for $25 since it has been so long. Sure enough I got shipping notice today. We'll see if mine arrives beaten up too. I can tolerate a little corner wear and tear, but not too much abuse.

Mine actually made it all the way from CA to eastern Canada, in a bubble mailer no less, unharmed!

2 Christmases ago during the holiday shopping season, I sent back 5 things due to damages over the period of a month. I doubt they'll flag you for 3 things over a year. Besides, their customer service is pretty good, and they do listen to stuff like this. At least they did for me.
