Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Went to 2 local Big Lots stores today.

Picked up the Fast & Furious 7-Movie Collection for a friend of mine who only owned a few of the earlier films. Only found this set at one of the stores I went to, which only had 2 sets on the shelves.

Fantastic deal for $10, especially since they come with Digital Codes.

Also picked up a copy of The Gift for $5.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I went to my local Big Lots yesterday hoping to find some Universal Monsters steelbooks, but they had only 1 copy of 1 Best Buy steelbook: Resident Evil:Afterlife. It was on a cardboard display that looked fairly picked over. I have seen one or two of those movies but I'm not a fan of the franchise so I didn't buy it.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I've looked a couple of times here - see lots of the Resident Evil steelbook (not interested - have them already and it's nothing "special"). I did find *one* copy of The Mummy steelbook and purchased it (with a coupon so it was ~$3.50). I already own 2 copies of each of the main movies on BR (and as many as 4 on DVD title depending) and would purchase a copy of any of them that show up... just for the artwork.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Picked up a copy of the 6-disc Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set for $5. It looked like it was the only copy they had. I already have a copy but it's a little banged up so I'm deciding whether I want to open it or return it and hold out for a 4K set.

I saw it as well, not to mention Planet of the Apes Legacy set for the same price.

This was in a huge new waterfall display.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Wow. I got the POTA set somewhere at a sale a few months ago, but I know it was more than $5.

I was just next door to BL & didn't bother going in!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Couldn't find a POTA set, but they had multiple Alien sets (which I already own).

I miss the days when we had 3 BL in town. We only have one now.

If I had seen POTA at my store I most likely would've grabbed it. I found the Alien set mixed in with the regular movies, no new waterfall display. Maybe my store hasn't put everything out yet.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Walked into my local store with a $5 off $15 coupon in hand.

The media section was missing one of the cardboard displays--going from 3 to 2. I was concerned, but then noticed some new things.

I picked up the 30th Anniversary Back to the Future steelbook trilogy for $10. I own the 25th anniversary set, but it appears there's a bonus disc with this one that's new. And for $5 out of pocket, I couldn't pass it up.

Also, aside from the 7 film Fast & the Furious set I had mentioned in March, there was now a different version of the same set for $10. An Ultimate Ride edition that was thicker--believe it was this one:

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Picked up the only copy of The Mummy steelbook (the 1999 remake) for $5 today.

Other $5 sightings:
The Amazing Spiderman 2 3D
Jurassic Park 3D
Alien Anthology
The Bye Bye Man
The Gunman (Sean Penn)

Never did come across the TF&F 7-movie collection. Hope the train didn't leave the station with that one!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I went to a "superstore" yesterday. Movie stock was low. I asked the clerk if there'd been a massive sell through or just no product. She answered that they hadn't received new movie stock in weeks.

I did buy 2 32 packs of name brand alkaline AA & AAA batteries at 20% off. it was around $23 + 11% sales tax for 64 batteries.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I haven't noticed any new films at my local store either.

Noticed the same thing at another store about an hour away.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Dollar Tree gets all the bargain warehouse DVD finds these days. I assume they are outbidding Big Lots.
