In my Big Lots experience, certain locations seem to be designated for media more than others.

Pearl St Super Store got a big batch of both blu & dvd. Unfortunately, even with a $5 off $15 that expires today, I could only find one $3 dvd.... One irritation: A couple weeks ago, I bought the Easy Of Eden blu ray with book from Family Video for $8.99. It finally shipped today. I could have got it (without the book) for $5 today at BL - the discount (If there had been $8 itruly wanted, I likely would have found the rest.

Not sure if any of these are new finds, but here's what I picked up today from my local Big Lots:

The Hustler BR $5
Dom Hemingway BR $5
Oldboy DVD $5
Zero Dark Thirty DVD $5

Picked up Fox Noir "Panic In The Streets" for $3 today.

I also saw, "Hitch/The Holiday Blu-ray Double Feature for $5" which was mentioned above. Very bummed; I had totally forgot about the Will Smith movie & was thinking this was the Hitchcock biopic from a couple years ago which I wouldn't mind picking up for $5 total. Oh well........

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Hitch/the Holiday comes with a UV code for both movies also.

Possibly my best $3 blind buy ever. Good film; excellent picture quality for a a 1950 film.

I normally don't go to Big!Lots but I had some spare time and was right next to one. Thought of this thread and hit the movie section. BDs were mixed in with DVDs but I nabbed the steelbook of Lucy for $5.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I've never asked anyone, but I would guess that when Big Lots marks some of their media down on clearance, that it's at the store's/manager's discretion. If so, then this is certainly YMMV. But my local store had a few BDs (and many DVDs) marked down this week. Almost all were $5 titles marked down to $2.50. But occasionally they were marked down twice it appeared, putting them at 25% of their original price. I picked up Machine Gun Preacher on BD for $1.25. I had previously bought the DVD at Dollar Tree (and the BD might have appeared there as well, though I never saw it). Went ahead and upgraded though I still haven't watched the DVD yet. :p

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I found another "Christmas in Connecticut" (which I was able to pick up at $0.50 - basically 90% off - a few weeks ago) and thought I'd buy it for a Christmas gift for someone. Well it is no longer on clearance as it rang up at full price $5. Needless to say it stayed at the store.

My local store had lots of new BDs when I stopped by today. Many of the same titles I'd seen before, but a few new ones.

Of note:

League of Their Own/Natural double feature - $3
Conspiracy Theory - $3
Lucy (Steelbook) - $5

3-4 copies of each of the ones above.

I hit the "superstore" yesterday. They were really light. I'm probably going to hit the other local BL Tuesday (Truck comes on Mondays). I've got a $5 off $15 to try to use.

Hit the local today due to the Sunday add & a coupon. Despite the add, nothing new. I finally asked them to scan an Xmas in Connecticut br. It came up $5.

Grabbed Rumble in the Bronx for $5 and some for $2.50. Hope the movie holds up. The cookies are decent, but small (which is a plus and minus I guess lol).

I also saw Rumble in the Bronx at Big Lots and Conspiracy Theory for $3.

I wouldn't mind picking up Conspiracy Theory if mine has it, but they probably don't even have the Archway Cookies.

Is this just a coupon for your individual rewards account? Those coupons are issued by e-mail on Fridays, after you've made 3 qualifying purchases. Nice if you received one since I'm assuming it would stack with the F&F weekend.

has anyone found anything cool? I really got held up with work. Being on the west coast, I can still run down there, but only want to if there's new stock.

I got the Bourne Supremacy and found out it was a flipper! Blu-ray on one side and DVD on the other! Leave it up to Universal to give us a flipper in this day and age!!

I have never seen this unique and unfortunate combo before... Hope it is the last one....

Egads if this is the state of things to come!

That's a remnant of a pressing from 2010. They don't do that no more

I went to the local store tonight. Rack was full & the clerk said they were picked through. Guess I should have gone yesterday. Bought 1 dvd: You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger for $2.60

Went to a store while out of town with a $5 coupon in hand. Thought I had stumbled into a lucky streak when an employee started unloading a pair of boxes on to the media rack while I was browsing. One box was labeled $5 and had mostly DVDs, except for Turbo (with a toy included) on BD. There were another box at $10 which included BDs. Despicable Me was the only new one I noticed. Others were previously viewed--multiple copies of Avengers, Doctor Strange, Big Hero Six, BFG and the like.

Yeah, they're starting to dump excess Disney at $10 with 'previously viewed' stickers - most of these are new with no slip covers. I still see remnants of the previous dump from about 2 years ago (Tomorrowland, Alice in the Looking Glass, Star Wars - last Jedi) still priced at $10

PhantomStranger 04-19-18 03:03 PM

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

$10 is a reach for many of those discs, which is why they hang around Big Lots forever. I see some to this day from the original batch.

The fine print on the 20% off coupon reads "May not be used in combination with any other offer, coupon, discount or associate discounts, but may be combined with Rewards."
Not sure if that helps answer your question, or makes things more confusing. Looks like it's probably the latter. ;)

Actually, it does clear things up. Thanks for the response (why I didn't read the fine print irks me)

Do some Big Lots stores get more inventory than others? The one near me never seems to get new stock, not even Dvds!
