Pearl Street (Tacoma WA) put out a full (& it was packed) Black Friday Display, + a number of titles I hadn't seen before at BL.

Problem is they were mostly so lame, I hadn't seen quite a number of them anywhere before!

I bought 3, & considered Rio 2 ($2.88 DVD & $5 Blu; but passed on that one

3 I bought:

Blu: Australia $2.88

DVD: The Big Street (Lucy Ball Romance Noir $5
(Interesting looking blind buy) Bel Ami $1.88

That seems awfully slow for a store to just now put out the Black Friday display.

Surprised me. It was definitely the BF display; it was labeled BF, the prices in the display were all the X.88, & it was jam packed; I assume it was put out today.

They also had more than usual $3 & $5's; though most were pretty weak titles.

This is one of the new BL superstores; they may not have known they had it & discovered it in the back room.

Day after Christmas, I bought Christmas in Conneticut for half off, $2.50

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Wasn't aware of a 50% off sale, or I would have gone in.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

It's possible that some have been discounted, without an official sale. I had a $5 reward and went in yesterday. Decided to pick up The Internship & Office Space, priced at $5 each. Office Space rang up at $2.50.

Not sure if it means anything, but it's on my receipt as APRIL $5 BLU RAY CASEGOO. (Pink sticker)

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Is the Christmas merchandise at 75% off yet?

b2net 01-14-18 08:18 AM

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Picked up

Fault in Our Stars Extended edition Blu-ray $2.88 (sticker not after a discount)

Fergully Blu-ray $2.88 (sticker not after a discount)

The Blacklist Season 1 Blu-ray w/UV $8

The Blacklist Season 2 Blu-ray w/UV $8

Saw bunch of other various Blu-ray titles for $2.88 and $5. Nothing spectacular.

Also saw but didn't pick up

Breaking Bad Season 5(?) Blu-ray $8

Better call Saul Season 1 Limited Special Edition Blu-ray $8

Answering myself, yes. Though most stores have little left besides laser projectors by this point.

New batch at a small store (72nd Tacoma Wa) Some new, some restocks. If anyone missed the $8 Dill Rogers Vol 2 DVD box, it's back. Lots of Better Call Saul S1 br's.

Here's what I bought with a $5 off $15:

Rebel Without A Cause $5
Mash Steelbook $5

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Saw a few new ones in the store today. Interested in Rock Star (mentioned already @ $3), maybe Project X ($3) and Our Brand is Crisis ($5). I'm due for a $5 coupon next Friday and will wait and hope they're still there next week. There were multiple copies of each so I'm optimistic.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

'Christmas in Connecticut' *ing Barbara Stanwyck (WB) rang up at $0.50. Looks like its tagged as part of the Christmas merchandise which is now 90% off. The additional 20% off made it $0.40, probably the lowest retail priced BD disc I have purchased

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Grabbed a few things other people already mentioned and these 2 Elia Kazan films
Panic in the Streets $3
Wild River 2.88

Picked this one up as well. I had heard that a couple of people had found Captain Phillips in steelbook from Big Lots but couldn't find a copy when I went. So Panic was the only one that caught my eye enough.

Got Christmas Story 2 and Christmas in Connecticut for 50 cents each today. They had Cruel Intentions for $3 but I'll have to watch the DVD on my new TV first and see if I need to upgrade that.

'Ice Age - a mammoth Christmas Special' will also ring up $0.50 if you find one

I wish they had put up signs. Do we know for sure this is chain wide? I paid $5 - some coupon for CIC.
It's a very good film; I'm a fan of both Stanwyck & Greenstreet.

If you see clearance signs for Christmas merchandise, those titles will ring up with the discount % that the store has advertised for the Christmas ware. One store near me had Christmas merchandise for 90% off (signs at the entrance) and so the title rang up $0.50. Another store had 75% off and the title rang up $1.25.

If I had things to do over again, I would have taken a few of the Christmas BDs from their display last month and tucked them into the regular rack. :D

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

This last weekend's haul with the 20% off offer:

$4
Hitch/The Holiday combo
The Water Diviner (Russell Crowe)
The Call (Halle Berry)
Open Season BD/DVD Combo with Slip

$2.40
Panic in the Streets
Bonnie and Clyde (newer version)
Veronica Mars
A League of their Own/The Natural Combo
Red Riding Hood (alternate cut)
Rescue Dawn
Miller's Crossing
Death Wish 4 - The Crackdown
Rock Star
Project X
Foxcatcher
Run All Night

$1
A Christmas Story 2
Ice Age - A Mammoth Christmas Special

$0.40
Christmas In Connecticut

Most stores here in SoCal were overflowing with new titles but more like Fox dump of 2nd tier titles

New or old Fox titles? I still need some of the Noir's.

Nope, no noirs. Things like Marine, Sniper, Starship Troopers 3 (Sony) etc

I found a store with a couple copies of "Christmas In Connecticut" in with regular Blu-Ray movies priced at $5.....rang up 50 cents each at the register.

Yes, they are discounted along with whatever the Christmas merchandise is discounted. At the store I visited all Christmas merchandise was 90% off, including the CDs.

But you may be too late if your Big Lots gets a lot of traffic. There were only two Christmas CDs left by yesterday, one from NSYNC. Most stores got wiped out with the past weekend's 20% off sale.

My local BL has had no xmas discount signs. I am starting to assume it may be chain wide, though based on posts here.

I have yet to see a Big Lots that doesn't discount their Christmas stuff, though some fail to put up signs about it. You won't know until you bring a Christmas item up to the register.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I bought recently:
A League of their Own/The Natural - $3
Jaws (Blu-ray book) - $5

A heads up: I redeemed the UV code included in "A League of their Own/The Natural". That code is for both movies, but the code also redeemed "The Mask of Zorro" and "The Legend of Zorro". So I got 4 digital movies with that code. I don't know if that's typical, just letting you guys know.

Holy Cow, Jaws Digibook ?????? Its not to be found anywhere other than at fancy prices. You lucked out there, Pal. Thanks for the note on the UV code for the other combo pack - didn't know it contained one

I have question: Mash (from Big Lots) is the first "Steel book" I've ever bought. It there supposed to be a book inside along with the disc? The case was certainly large enough, & there were inside booklet holders. but the only thing inside when I opened it was the blu-ray disc.

No, there's no booklets in steelbooks. Its only designed to hold a disc in a fancy looking metal pack

And sometimes a digital code or promotional material. ;). I've used the other side for sticky hubs and movie tickets. Just depends.

I picked that up as well except at Dollar General for $4.95. Then I discovered it at Dollar Tree for $1. I guess Dollar General got $3.95 outta me (not worth a return considering gas, etc). Similar thing happened with Chasing Mavericks. Got that at Big Lots for $3. Then saw it at Dollar Tree for $1. Big Lots got the $2. Oh well. It happens.

The usual common 'dump' is from Fox and Warner. Big Lots also gets some Sony overstocks. But it almost seems like its the same Fox lot that makes it to these two outlets. I bought it only because I had other purchases to make and had the coupon. Now that you mention finding it in DT, doesn't feel so 'hot'

Swung by today to use a $5 off $15 coupon and picked up:

The Deer Hunter - BR/DVD $5
Rebel without a Cause - BR $5
A League of Their Own/The Natural - BR $3
The Train Robbers - BR $5

Othen then the "League/Natural" two-fer all others were the only copies in the displays.

MooMooMooMoo 01-28-18 08:46 PM

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I nabbed that League set also. What a great deal!
