Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

I don't quite get why all the April titles went on sale except for "Sweetie" and "Fear & Loathing". I've already got "Fear" , but would have picked up "Sweetie".

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

Just received this email from Amazon;

We wanted to let you know that your package may not arrive on time due to extreme weather conditions or an unforeseen natural event.

Extreme weather ???....it's raining.

just checked my delivery status and it's in the next town....was looking forward to watching one of these blu's tonight ,especially since we have a break in the NHL playoffs.

The Bruins winning a playoff series might qualify as an 'unforeseen natural event'.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

Strange. They sent one package through UPS (the big one with everything else, shipped 04/26 and arrived today 4/28) and the rest (just Yi Yi on blu) through USPS (shipped out Apr 26) and for some odd reason its in Las Vegas. I assume its going the long way due to the storms, but I have literally never had this happen to me. I'm in Florida by the way.

I want to be offended by this, but it's too funny so I'll let you slide.

Hey, I'm from Boston too. I still haven't gotten over the collapse against Philly last year. Or the Super Bowl against NY, but that's another matter...

I already received part of my order today. Then 15 minutes later I received an e-mail about the weather delay for said discs that were in my hand.

Who do I have to kill to get ANYTHING in my Gold Box, much less Blow Out? It's weird that suddenly I don't get anything when I'm usually inundated with junk at not particularly good prices.

Not to get your hopes up, but usually the day after I have zilch in my Quick Picks, I get swamped with two or three things I'd actually buy.

I'm also biding my time to see if anything interesting pops up in my Gold Box, aside from White Material (very strong film, but a one-watch event).

See, it had nuthin' to do with our beloved Bruins after all, i just received all my
packages.
It seems one of them was sent to Watertown by mistake (which is 25 miles away) the driver told me that it was the "crazy storms down in Alabama" that helped cause the confusion.

One package came from PA. and One from Vegas....so it seems the Vegas one got caught in a Tornado?

I feel very bad for those people down south ,it's such a terrible tragedy, but C'mon ya can't blame all that destruction on someones incompetence up here (not the Bruins ,they did win a playoff series) in the Boston area.

I haven't had anything in my Gold Box Quick Picks at all for the past three days straight! Since the day the sale started I've been looking, especially since someone else reported getting it in theirs, with no joy of any sort. I've put it in my cart, moved it to holding, tossed it, added it to my Wish List and still nothing. I went thru the Rate Your Recommendations for a couple hundred items and they had a bazillion Criterions in the list (not BO, though) and I have a few on top of buying 8-1/2 on Tuesday and the system is still hating on me.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

Ordered Blow Out, Broadcast News and Modern Times. I ordered last night and it says they will ship in nearly 2 weeks. Looks like I was late to the game this round. I'm hoping they ship out sooner...

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

I just picked up the BBS Story from my Gold Box for 50 and some change. Also, it says that it is actually in stock unlike the 3 other Criterions that I ordered.

I think Amazon usually over-estimates their shipping times. Nearly every time I order an item that they say ships in a week or more, I get an e-mail in a day or two after I order telling me that the item is going to ship sooner.

This is what I'm hoping for with my 3 Criterions that are on back-order although my credit card probably thinks differently. Either way I've got plenty to watch as I received El Topo, The Holy Mountain and IP Man this week.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Sale at Amazon

I ordered 8-1/2 on Tues. April 26 and they estimated it'd come Weds. May 4. It's coming today, April 29.

Still nuttin' but nuttin' in my Gold Box. [sad panda]

Sweet Smell of Success was in my Gold Box today, so I ordered it with the Fantastic Mr. Fox blu ray. Maybe something else from the Criterion sale will show up there tomorrow.

Ordered Blow Out and Broadcast News a couple days ago. Had about a half dozen sale Criterions in the quick picks this morning.

Have you tried editing your Gold Box picks yet? That might help.
