If you are looking for a great film then no, that doesn't fit the bill. But if I have to watch something that ends up not being very good, I'm very glad it's only 90 minutes and not 150. Like I said, it's worth $6, that can be interpreted several ways.

I've seen Bangkok Dangerous and I can definitely say it's not worth $6 in my opinion. Besides, I want to be able to look at my collection and be proud of the films I own so $6 is still $6 I could put towards a good movie. For instance, The Wild Bunch is only $9 on Amazon right now. I would much rather pay the $3 difference and get a great flick than a really mediocre Nic Cage flick. Not to mention if you really are feeling masochistic you could just Redbox or Netflix the movie instead.

My time goes from not working to working all the time. The last two years I have bought so many discs from Nov to the end of Jan I still have not open. Discs from 2008 & 09. This gives me a break and buying only the hard core (if you wish to call them that) movies. I still watch this site and if something I MUST have NOW goes down. So be it, I will still buy it but right now. To dame many (thank you Amazon! I still hate you)

Besides the obvious ones (Disney movies which usually don't fall below $14.99 and Criterions which I've never bought), I can't think of very many other movies that never come down in price to $10 or less. Of course you are probably doing a much better job tracking them than I do. Too bad there's no way to know in advance which ones will never drop that low after year(s).

There are many examples I track. I'll mention three very different ones:

North by Northwest — low $18.99 (famed classic)

Gigi — low $14.49 (obscure classic)

Twilight — low $19.99 (very popular, albeit not at DVD Talk, recent movie)

Not a Disney nor Criterion among them.

Yes, but they are issued to your email. I did 16 on 16 different email accounts. Then they email you the giftcard code and you can put them all on the same amazon account if you like. You can also use the same credit card for each one if you like.

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

What sotra said. This is a no brainer for anyone who spends money at Amazon on a regular basis. I ordered 1 using every possible email address I had.

What's the turnaround time on these discounted gift cards, how do you get the code once your order has processed?

John Galt 01-19-11 12:24 PM

Re: Amazon Discounts and Deals Thread #7 (is it #7? I'll pretend it is)

Usually one day. It looks like they're getting swamped though so they might have some logistical issues to work out. I doubt they normally sell over 500k of anything in one day.

Can you apply multiple gift card numbers to one order? Thanks in advance.

I just ordered one. I was tempted to use my 15 other email accounts to get more, but eh....I'm not greedy.
;)

^^Yes, they're just like an Amazon GC. They'll send you a code, you enter it in your account information, and it shows as a credit.

Thanks for this great tip; just ordered three of them.

make sure you check your credit card on the deal, my final price showed $5.00 and my card was charged for $10.00 - shady.

they say they will send it the day after the deal ends, so that would be tomorrow.

I just ordered one and it takes you to a page to enter 3 friends email addresses....so maybe that still works?

There's a whole thread on the $20 Amazon card for $10 here:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hot-deals/5...-card-5-a.html

It would be nice if this thread stayed on topic.

It looks like they corrected that.

I keep trying to order more than one, but it never goes any further than the "Buy Now!" page.

I was able to go on a different browser and grab another, but since then, only two.
