Aw crap. If there are a bunch of new extras on this, I will have to double-dip once this hits $100 or less. I loved the show, plus 4 of the 5 seasons I have are still sealed, so may be easier to sell.

Thanks for this. I canceled my pre-order from the other day and ordered again to make sure I get it at this price =D

After selling my DVD set for $80, this will mean only a $40 or less difference for the upgrade. Still pricey, but really looking forward to this release, especially now that Stargate as a franchise is pretty much dead =(

anyone else bought from mirmedia_movies_and_music on amazon? I previously bought Observe and Report from them...I got the BD..it was fine...except...it was the canadian coverart...which has French on there too..it was weird. The BD is the same I believe as the US one but...was weird. Thankfully the movie was not for me...cuz I would've slightly annoyed by looking at that French....

I'm iffy on Troy...I've never seen the DC of it. I see that the PQ and AQ are top notch from what reviews say...but...what do you guys think? The DC was solid? Yes? No? Maybe?

Can't help you out with comments on Troy, as I haven't seen it, but if you end up considering a buy, it's worth noting that the four-film "Best of Blu-ray: Action" box set is currently going for $20.00 shipped in amazon marketplace. It includes the Troy DC, plus Blood Diamond, Wyatt Earp, and Alexander Revisited.

Granted, the films included have a pretty checkered reputation, but an additional $10 nets you three more films. Five bucks a movie.

The closest to experience I have with any of these titles is watching the theatrical cut of Alexander. I agree with the general consensus that it sucked.

I already have Blood Diamond. Don't want Alexander in whatever form given unless it game me a 2+ hour reel of Dawson getting naked. With special features on her getting naked...and...Wyatt Earp bothers me now...saw it too much as a kid.

Does it make Paris less of a bitch and does it somehow not make it awkward when a whole battle fucking stops to see two men fight? That was just awkward as fuck.

Or to put it more specific...does it turn it from a mediocre film w/ nice visuals to at least a good flick?

I don't have the Blu but do have the DC on HD. Normally I'm not a fan of Directors Cuts. Yes there are times when a director is forced to cut the movie for running time purposes and the DC is much better. Other times they are just adding in deleted scenes as a marketing tool. ID4 and Hollow Man are examples of where I prefer the theatrical over the DC. Troy on the other hand I was impressed with the DC. As others said it still has its flaws but the mvoie overall, especially the final battle scene is much better. It looked and sounded great on HD DVD too.

Troy is much better on in Director's Cut form. Think Kingdom of Heaven jump in quality.

Not really, but it does offer some additional nudity and over the top violence (limbs and heads flying, I found it more humorous than anything). The color saturation is also pumped up, and the end credits song is gone. So, it's not as bland as the original, definitely an improvement. No getting around it's shortcomings though. (acting, pacing, music)
