Crazy box set deals at bn.com

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com
I just reordered Austin Powers after they canceled my previous order. They shipped GWTW (the one I want the least) and canceled another. I also ordered BTTF for $27.99 + tax under the belief that I have 14 days to return it (from when I receive it) to the local B&N store for a full refund. It's insurance in case the Amazon Friday deal doesn't work out. Of course it would require B&N not to cancel my orders again which of course there is always a high probability they will do... cancel some people's orders while leaving others'. It's almost like they run a random canceler program in the background just for the fun of it.

Picked up 'Life' for $15.07 inc. tax
What's funny is that I had told my wife I would like it for Christmas and that Amazon.co.uk had it for $30. But then I had started reading up that it wasn't compatible on all players so that had me nervous that she might have already ordered it.
As soon as I saw that I got all excited and was told to go ahead and order it for an early present
(think I might still have it wrapped and put under the tree though - I'm a big kid when it comes to Christmas)

Funny, I ordered around the same time and got mine (for AP) cancelled. Sheesh. Don't mind waiting until December 16-17 to get mine but so odd how some are getting shipped while others were canceled.

I mean petty in the fact that, really, is it going to crush you? Is it really that important to save a few bucks in the long run? Not really. If you were shopping for someone else then there is a great big internet to find something else. It honestly isn't that big of a deal really. I have much more important things to worry about than saving a few bucks on an entertainment item that isn't even necessary.
But if you want to send your blood pressure up, and cause yourself to die just a little earlier from the stress then you be my guest. Live and let live I say, but I'm not going to stress about it.

With all due respect, sir, you're being overly dramatic here. I don't think anyone in this thread is really stressing or throwing a massive fit over the situation. They're just annoyed (and rightly so) by B&N's.
And really, why bring up whole "saving a few bucks" and " unnecessary entertainment item"? This is, after all, a blu ray bargain forum, and precisely what we're all here for. So, if its all so insignificant, then you're probably at the wrong forum.

I'm just not having any luck with B&N lately. Last night I was denied using a 50% coupon they'd sent me (still not sure why)...then denied again on using the 30% off Life blu-ray (was working all the way up until I logged in, then denied because it was supposedly a 'corporate order' - just because I prefer having stuff sent to my work address??).
Between that and numerous back-orders at Deep Discount, I'm thinking Amazon is going to get all my business this season.

The only thing that has shipped for me so far is GWTW. But the rest have shipping dates fixed, so hopefully they'll go through.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com
canceled both my Austin Powers orders (one I had canceled because I didn't use a coupon. but I guess it didn't go through), but they took care of that. Said they couldn't get anymore even though it's still on the website.
Anyway ordered Life w/ the 30% off and Austin Powers again, but I'm expecting cancellations on AP again, but thought I'd try anyway.
EDIT:
Ordered Life and Austin Powers at 9:33, got "Schedules to ship" email exactly 1 hour later. If they ship AP, I'm going to call and demand they give me the discounted price of my first order. Got 30% off Life, but no discount on AP. It's crap that they cancel something, then "schedule to ship" something I order a day later.
However, it's not "scheduled to ship" until mid-December, so there's plenty of time for another cancellation.

I got shipping notices for Austin powers and TMNT box sets. Batman was cancelled unfortunately. They have shipped and should arrive the 30th according to UPS

I just ordered Austin Powers as an experiment. I got free shipping using the VISA link, but could not get any coupons to go through. ~$11 after tax for it, and I expected to get a cancellation notice, but I already got a shipping notice (with a 12/14 delivery ship date estimate) so who knows?

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com
It's a shipping estimate, not a shipping notice. And it's a big difference because, as we've seen, the shipping estimates are nearly worthless as cancellations happen after receiving the estimate.

If you like Life you might be interested in National Geographic's Great Migrations Blu-ray. It's currently on sale for 24.99 (50% off) at B&N.com. That's the best price I've seen on this new release and with the 30% off coupon it's even more of a deal at 17.49.

I just ordered Life on Blu for under $15 with the 30% off coupon. I've never seen the series, but I loved Planet Earth, so I'm guessing picking this up isn't much of a risk.

I got "Schedules to ship" emails on my Austin Powers & Life Orders, both of which I placed yesterday. As I previously posted I got my TMNT order cancelled though, that I ordered two days ago.

They never are... The stores and BN.com are separate entities that try to interact, but it doesn't work well... In-store they rarely discount their BD's and box sets, but online they are frequently on sale... But I can answer your question definitively because I went to the store the day this was posted and tried to do a Ship To Home order (which they couldn't do because it was sold out at the time) and he pointed out they have it in-store for only $39.99...
