Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com
I don't know about everyone else, but it's not the fact that they're canceling orders that upsets me. It's their lack of ability to admit it's a price mistake. If I get a properly worded apologetic email that says they can't deliver on a price mistake, I pretty much always walk away feeling fine. When I get an email like the one I just got and then see the item still for sale, it elicits a completely different reaction.

Although I do agree that if they are going to cancel and have some price mistake emails sent out then they need to take it down and show some semblance of knowing what they are doing. It is pretty horrible business tactics to say there was a mistake and not fix it. It's just making more work for them

Edit for glassdragon:
I'm not going to complain either, for that price it's not taking much time to at least give it a shot.

They canceled my TMNT order, which was placed yesterday, but both my Austin Power and That's Entertainment orders from today are both still active. What sucks is TMNT had the coupon applied, so now I lost the 15% off coupon...

Not taking it down if it was a mistake is akin to bumping into someone, apologizing because you didn't see them there and then bumping into them again, apologizing again and doing that ad nauseam
How many times before the person says you are full of shit saying you didn't see them and kicks your ass.

Petty? I would personally have to disagree. When you buy something, you expect to get what you paid for. Especially for those people that weren't shopping for themselves, but rather, family or friends for the holidays.
Granted, its not like an exchange of money took place, but when you get an order confirmation, that should really be worth something and the company should stand behind it.

To me the first time it got canceled, I say fair enough but the fact they still have it up and are allowed to order it again is puzzling and I would hope it gets honored, but if not it's really not worth the energy to bitch and moan.
Also, ThePhantomGoat, I would not rely on what appears to be a clearance sale for presents to friends and family.

As I was reading this thread, BN emailed saying that my Austin powers was ready to ship and will be here in 2-6 days. I ordered TMNT at the same time and that got canceled. 1 out of 2 isn't bad I guess. Plus, I have TMNT 1 on DVD and part 3 sucks

Having said that, they should let the orders stand for people that are willing to wait for the order to ship even if it takes months. This coming from someone still waiting for a couple of big orders from DDD BOGO sale.

I mean petty in the fact that, really, is it going to crush you? Is it really that important to save a few bucks in the long run? Not really. If you were shopping for someone else then there is a great big internet to find something else. It honestly isn't that big of a deal really. I have much more important things to worry about than saving a few bucks on an entertainment item that isn't even necessary.
But if you want to send your blood pressure up, and cause yourself to die just a little earlier from the stress then you be my guest. Live and let live I say, but I'm not going to stress about it.

I got "shipping soon" too for Austin Powers. On the order page, it says "Cannot be Removed". However, an earlier order for Life, can still be canceled and shows no status...

They cancled my orders as well... going to call tomorrow to find out what they can do if anything. Pretty lame, no wonder I never ever shop at BN.

You didn't BUY anything. They did not take your money. You received no product. You got exactly what you paid for...nothing.

They basically offer good deals, probably to get traffic and other impulse buys, and then are randomly canceling orders of items they don't want to sell.

This incident isn't the only thing that concerns me lately. It's well known that B&N have been cancelling Criterion online orders randomly in the same manner.

Items they don't want to sell? That's a ridiculous statement.

Just because you don't know what the reason for the cancellations is doesn't make it random. I didn't look at all the Criterion cancellation posts but it seemed to be mostly orders for the newer releases. It seems some of those were in short supply.

Re: Crazy box set deals at bn.com
Fact is that we don't know for sure what was causing it so speculating is pointless.

I was really looking forward to that! I have all the season sets of the cartoon on dvd... This stinks.. so sad
