Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

The CSR I spoke to was a shit. At first she said, "Nobody got it because it was a mistake but you can order for the higher price", then after I pointed out it said in the email it was canceled because of "limited availability" she said, "Oh, only a limited number of people got it for that price". She was just making it up as she went along.

I'm not going to argue over the phone for a few dollars. Screw it, I'll just file a complaint with the BBB and be done with it.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

Here's the funny thing. About 10 minutes after I got off the phone with the CSR, I got an e-mail offering to allow me to order it again at full price and they'd adjust it to $15. I think if you're polite and logical (as well as expressing disappointment in the company), you might get in on this still.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

Don't file with the BBB, they will truly do nothing, except put on record that you have a complaint. If you want to do something, file a complaint with you state Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. They will send a complaint to Walmart.com and expect them to reply to the allegation in writing.

I had a canceled order this morning. My first call got no where, except that the supervisor I spoke with said the manufacturer told Walmant the price was too low and so Walmart raised the price which equates to price fixing. After a friend told me she was able to get Walmart to honor the price via providing credits to the order, I called back and was able to get to honor the price as well for me. This is turning into a fiasco for Walmart and it appears that Walmart is not communicating the same instructions to all agents.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

I doubt that's going to happen with me because my CSR didn't even bother looking up my order number. She just didn't care and I'm not going to go through that again.

Dear Scott,

Thank you for contacting Walmart.com regarding the cancellation of your order.

Unfortunately, due to a pricing error your Blu-ray: Iron Man 2 (Blu-ray + Standard DVD + Digital Copy) was cancelled. A refund has been issued to your original method of payment. We will honor the original purchase price. If you would like to reorder the item please email us back and we will replace the order using your original method of payment and credit the difference in price to your original method of payment.

If we may be of further assistance, please email us at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Scott1598,

Just curious as to how you worded your email to Walmart concerning the cancelled order?

I think they are starting to realize that canceling an item and offering the same exact thing for more money is called 'bait and switch'? That can get them into a lot of trouble.

I got right through to a rep and she's giving it to me for $15 as I type. Easier than I thought.

For those getting it honored, what is the $ total showing on your new order confirmation email. She confirmed the total was $15.90 on the phone, but my new confirmation email is showing $26.46

I don't think this situation is really Wal-Mart's fault at all or at least not entirely their fault but its really Paramount who should get the blame. This is just guesswork on my part but I think Wal-Mart intended and wanted the price for the Iron Man 2 Combo Blu-ray to be $15 on the release week but like you said Paramount seems to called and said they couldn't sell it for that cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason people were getting their pre-order's cancelled due to the lack of availability was because Paramount threatened to not ship them the product or if Wal-mart already has it they could have deemed it as a violation of any contract Wal-mart has with Paramount which would result in Wal-mart's inability to sell it at that price. So they wouldn't be able to fulfill the pre-orders due to Paramount not allowing any product availability at that price. It seems to me that Paramount wanted the lowest price for this Blu-ray to be around $24.96 which would explain why all the retailers have similar prices and none have tried to beat their competition by selling it at say $19.99 which surprises me since this Blu-ray should be rather popular. I think Paramount should get the blame and I still haven't forgotten what they did with the Blu-ray of The African Queen where in the press release it states the list price as $26.99 but when that Blu-ray went on pre-order it seems Paramount decided to increase it to $39.99.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

Just called the 800 number. Got told by both the phone rep and a "supervisor" that there is nothing they can do and that I can order it for $24.96. I emphasized on the fact that I was given the pre-order guarantee and that its still on their site for $15 via the "local ad." Both people said "well its in our terms that we can cancel it and its $24.96 on the site" which kinda tells me that they don't understand what the word "guarantee" means let alone are incapable of looking up the "local ad" on their own site. I got left with being told I would hear something within one business day with how this will get resolved but I can order it for $24.96.

Oh, and according to the "supervisor" they haven't adjusted the price back to $15 for anyone on this at all. I guess she might not be aware that they in fact have already. Just sent an e-mail reply to the cancellation notice in hopes maybe that will get things resolved.

No go for me...rep talked to "upper management" and everything. Told them I wouldn't be giving them my business any longer. Especially since some people got adjustments and I didn't.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

i went into wal mart this morning and picked up the weekly ad, and then the came home and took a screen cap of the ad online with the mouse over the Iron Man blu ray, so it specifically shows the same ad i physically have but with the $15 price on it. on the 28th i will take the ad in with my picture and try to get them to match it that way, if not, if im near best buy that week ill just price match there if they will. sounds like the customer service method is a toss up.

Dear Walmart Customer Service,

This cancellation is unacceptable. You had a rollback price of $15.00, I ordered it the day it was advertised and was even charged/hold on account for it at the moment of purchase. This is not the first time this has happened and unfortunately I don't think I can support Walmart.com as an online retailer.

Sincerely,
Scott X

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

I called & explained how it was still on their site in the ad for $15 & that in the cancellation they said it was cancelled due to limited availability NOT a price error. The bitch hung up on me.

They actually corrected it to $14.96, so its even 4 cents cheaper.

Sorry to those who are not having luck.

I just sent my email response to the cancellation using the 'walmart stock owner' approach. Let's see how they treat someone who has shares in the company...

It's that cut-throat mentality that got Wal-Mart to be as big as they are. I think we're sometimes spoiled by how good Amazon usually is about their customer service.

Believe me, I'm not defending Wal-Mart (I typically only shop there maybe once a year, only when it's 3AM and I absolutely need something...) but they typically will do whatever they can to improve the bottom line for shareholders.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

I just shot them a reply from their cancellation e-mail indicating that several other consumers are stating they were given the option to reorder and receive a back-end price adjustment and that I would appreciate being given the same opportunity, especially since the local ad is still indicating a price of $15.00 on their website. I will let you guys know if this works and then give you my verbiage to use, if you wish.

Re: Iron Man 2 Combo Pack - $15 at Walmart.com

The e-mail I got this morning is exactly the same as scott's. My difference adjustmest cited "Late to arrive" as the reason it was applied. I'm not going to argue. It's a killer deal.
