DVDTalk's review

It is. Identical discs IIRC.

And a big middle finger to Overpar. I went on a spending spree on Amazon.UK:

1 "Zodiac - Director's Cut [Blu-ray] [2007]"
Elias Koteas; Blu-ray; £7.98

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane [Blu-ray] [2006]"
Anson Mount; Blu-ray; £6.07

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "Tin Man [Blu-ray] [2007]"
Raoul Trujillo; Blu-ray; £10.42

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "Life On Mars - Series 1 - Complete [Blu-ray] [2006]"
John Simm; Blu-ray; £11.90

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "Life On Mars - Series 2 - Complete [Blu-ray] [2007]"
John Simm; Blu-ray; £11.90

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "Night Watch/Day Watch [Blu-ray] [2005]"
Konstantin Khabensky; Blu-ray; £11.29

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.
1 "The Omen Trilogy - The Omen/Damien - Omen 2/Omen 3 - The Final Conflict [Blu-ray] [1976]"

Sigh. $120 shipped. I only got Zodiac for the cool slip cover. Damn me. Not sure why VAT was not taken off for Zodiac.

From the looks of that picture, it is an awesome deal simply because it comes in an actual plastic case and not the awful, cheap-ass cardboard monstrosity the US received.....

The Omen set looks like too good of a deal to pass up. You'd pay the same amount just for the first film at Amazon right now!

Exactly why I ordered it and dumped my US set months ago. A nice hardcase for the 3 films and not the horrific remake.

Hope you guys acted quick because The Omen box set has gone back up in price. It's now £39.98. I'm happy I was able to get my order in.

Re: One/Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Pt. IV: Back To Bargains

Price just jumped to 39.98

Forget that - comes to about $70.00 CDN.

For all those that ordered it I hope it's just a price jump (due to demand) and not a price correction.

Deal's dead. I placed an order just in the nick of time (along with All the Boys Love Mandy Lane thanks to the price update -- thanks GizmoDVD!).

Thanks to the OP for posting such a great deal! :)

From Drav3n in the DVD Bargains forum. Not a good deal imho, but here you go.

Just saw this on Amazon:

Order Dexter Season One Blu-ray and Pre-order Dexter Season Two Blu-ray and save $15 on your order. Discount applied at check out. Hurry offer ends May 5th

Season 1 - $37.99
http://www.amazon.com/Dexter-Complet...d_bxgy_d_img_b

Season 2 - $38.99
http://www.amazon.com/Dexter-Complet...d_bxgy_d_img_b

Total --> $76.98 - $15.00 = $61.98

So $31 for each season of Dexter...not a bad deal

Frick, I knew I shoulda checked this thread earlier... Nice score on the Omen set... I noticed that Spiderman 3 dropped to £6.98. Perhaps other BD's dropped to 6.98 as well...

The UK Zodiac Blu-ray only sports a Dolby Digital 5.1 track -- no TrueHD, right?

Correct. No lossless audio (as TrueHD). Only a Dolby Digital track. Plus, the transfer is not as good as the U.S. release. I know that is hard to believe but that's what I've heard on other forums (and I have seen comparison pics). Just pick up the domestic release when it goes on sale.

According to a review on HDD the UK BD DD5.1 track sounds identical to the DD+ on the HD DVD (which I in turn found sounded just like the TrueHD one from the American BD). No biggie for me as I only want the nifty slip cover - I'll sell the UK BD by itself as soon as it arrives.

You can get the US release at Barnes & Noble online for $16.68 + tax with free shipping. Use the bn.com/military link to enter the site and get 6% off and free shipping, then apply a 20% coupon that can be found in the Bargains forum. I think the sale is only supposed to last another couple of days.

Heads up for BJs Warehouse members. They have Benjamin Button on sale for $22.99. I got it for a super low $17.99 since I had the $5 off coupon from their quarterly magazine.

Decided to bite on that deal. It was good enough for me :)

Then again I'm kind of biased because it's one of my favorite shows on TV.

Also how do Amazon Pre-Order's go? Do they usually ship the day of or a couple days after?

Taken will be $24.99 at Best Buy. Also, they have Superman Returns on sale for $16.99. The TrueHD versions have made their way to stores as well.

Inetvideo.com has raised a bunch of the 1.99 titles (free shipping soon?)

But of notice is the That's Entertainment Complete HD DVD Collection is only 9.99 now - so even with 4.95 shipping it's only 14.94

Lowest on amazon is 37.49

What exactly is 'That's Entertainment' anyway?

A love letter to MGM musicals, alternating between retrospective comments from the original performers and many, many, many excerpts.
