Anyone else notice that Naruto Uncut Vol. 5 got released already? I thought this was scheduled for a December 4th release? At my local FYE and Suncoast I saw the regular version (which I bought for way too much money) and the SE (respectively).

IMO, Utawarerumono is one of the best anime series that was released this year despite the lackluster DVD cover arts.

That is not very surprising. You sometimes see it at Best Buy as well. I also remember that earlier this year, my local Suncoast had actually put out Tekkaman Blade Collection 2, 2+ months in advance.

I was pretty stoked. I watched the whole half season last night, one after another.

Anyone else noticed how some mid-European countries seem to release all kinds of older titles that receive very little attention, if they see daylight at all, in the english-speaking nations?

Like I've noticed that the whole Fist of the North Star has been released in Italy and France (with subtitled version to boot), whereas US and UK have only the first 36 episodes, essentially ending the series in a middle of a story arc...

Was Appleseed part of TV series or just movie? The trailer seems to be interesting and it got me curious.

That doesn't surprise me. There is almost no market for older and/or niche anime titles here in the US.

There was an older OVA by Manga Entertainment and it was adapted from the manga. Appleseed (Movie) was released by Geneon and it was readapted from the manga. The upcoming Appleseed: Ex Machina (Movie) will be the sequel of the first movie. Appleseed: Ex Machina will be dubbed by ADV Films and distributed by Warner Brothers.

Cool. I'll add to my Netflix list (Appleseed movie) and wait for WB to release the sequel one.

A damn shame that. Whenever I see "dated animation" in a review, I just get all giddy. One thing that also bothers me is when they change the credits to english language ones, especially on the older stuff, it just doesn't give me the same kinda sense of nostalgy it would...possibly because the little anime that was released on video over here usually came with unchanged credits and music and I watched them a lot as a kid.

Probably the reason I enjoy so much of the 80's anime is because back then, American culture was a big thing (pinnacled in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), so the shows back then felt a much less Japanese. The dated animation also has a more "authentic" touch than any of the CGI-enhanced stuff nowadays.

It's a shame that older and/or niche anime usually don't make here in the US. The biggest problem is that they just don't sell or appeal to fringe/casul anime consumers.

...at least the first boxset of Yawara! will be released by AnimEigo probably in early 2008. That is one more thing to look forward to next year.

Bandai Entertainment is finally releasing Cowboy Bebop Remix: Complete Collection on February 8, 2008. The retail price is $49.98.

I have been waiting for this to come out for a long time. And at this price (even at retail price), this release should sell very well next year!

Thanks for letting us know!

Had to add spoiler, in case anyone have not seen the series.
Spoiler:
I saw it last month and was disappointed how they decided to kill him off at end of the series. I thought the series would have continued much longer.

Wow, do you think we'll see this price on other websites?

I started watching Tokko the other day. Quite interesting that show.

Yes, $49.98 is the retail price. Other online and B&M retailers will/should carry this. This will sell even at the retail price. If Right Stuf is having a Bandai Ent. studio sale, it will be $29.99 (40% off retail) or $26.99 for Got Anime members.

I had no problem with the ending with Cowboy Bebop. The series is great as it is. Now I just have to own the series.

What I've learned from anime:

Spoiler:
Cool characters always die. Annoying ones seem to be immortal.

Well, except for Kenshiro. Unfortunately, this very much applies to his peers, though.

Not always. As for an example:

(gotta spoiler it)
Spoiler:
Full Metal Panic!'s Sousuke didn't die.

Fullmetal Achemist has brothers that still alive at end of the movie, through Edward "gave up" his life to restore Al's body at end of the series - but alive in different world.

I have seen many heroes of the series survived such as Scrapped Princess, Elfen Lied, Macross Saga, and few more.

Cowboy Bebop is only one that killed main character off at end of the series, so far. Keep in mind, I'm still fairly new to Anime and I still got hundred in Netflix queue to watch.

We can pre-order Cowboy Bebop collection set at RightStuf.com and their price is $37.49. It should be much lower with Got Anime member.
