Great news for Kiddy Grade fans. According to Aya Hirano(voice actress of Lumiere), a second season is in the works that would focus on what happens to Eclaire and Lumiere after the events of the first season.

Also, don't forget that the Independent Film Channel will start airing Basilisk this Friday night at 11.

I haven't been following anime for a while, and feel I need some advice/recommendations on what I've missed.

Anime I like: Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Berserk, Rahxephon, Fullmetal Alchemist

Wasn't this question originally posted on the anime bargain thread or am I seeing things?

Anyways Twelve Kingdoms is one of my favorite epic/fantasy anime series. But you need to have the patience to withstand 45 episodes. The storyline is deep, there is plenty of character development, and the animation is pretty good. With that all said, my only gripe is that they should have made more episodes to finish the story.

FYI, the Economy Collections are gonna be similar to the Rurouni Kenshin Economy Sets (with overlaping DVDs)...Even though I have the R3 tin sets, I may have to double dip during the next DD 20% off sale.

It was. I had forgotten about this thread at first, but I figured this was a more appropriate place for it.

No problem there, I made it through Rurouni Kenshin which I felt was way too long and drawn out for it's own good.
Glad to hear that you like it so much, definately going to grab this then.

After finishing watching Twelve Kingdoms, I wanted more. I wanted to know what happens after episode 45. You can't say that for most anime that is out there right now. It's unfortunate that the show's creators did not feel that they had enough information from the novels on which it's based to continue. It will be nice if they decide to continue this in the future though unlikely.

OK... So I'm not much into Anime any more, but I occassionally watch Akira from time to time. I really can't stand the new dub and prefer the Streamline Pictures one... which is availible on the UK 2-disc set. The problem is that the Original dub is on the second disc with the VHS-port of the video.
What a dissapointment. I was thinking I could rip the DVDs (copies I own) and overlay the old track over the new video. I wonder if they would synch. Somebody must have tried this.

I just finished Full Metal Panic! series (including TSR) and it's great series. Does anyone know if they are working on next "season"? Because it seems that they have not resolve the issue with Amalgam group (or with Tessa's brother).

Anyone know what the deal is with this new Ghost in the Shell SAC coming out next week?

Is it a movie, or is it more episodes or a 3rd season? And most importantly, is it any good?

Fairly certain, it's just the episodes from the first season of SAC dealing with the "Laughing Man" arc.

Nothing as of yet, but hopefully there will be a new series in the near future!

Yes, it's basically recycled material from the TV series. If you own the the 1st season, you don't really need it. But if you are a big fan of the series, you may want to add it to your collection.

With Panorama's huge eff up on the HK release, I really, really, really hope the subtitles are done right for this Bandai release.

Any of you anime gurus have any insight into the matter? ... or even know what I'm talking about?

Thanks

.. and to Slop's question, Krel is right ... in 05 they spliced out the core Laughing Man episodes from the Complex and made it feature length. I believe it was done seamlessly. There was a HK release from Panorama that came out a few months ago. The subtitling job looked like it performed by a third grade ESL student. Needless to say I couldn't get past 15mins into it. Maybe I'll revisit it to see about the seamless part, but that's about all.

According to animenewsnetwork:

"This is a compilation of Laughing Man related material from the first season of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex along with new footage and upgraded to theatrical film quality."

I'm glad to see this is coming to R1. After hearing about the horrendous subtitles on the R3 set, I've been waiting for another version. I enjoyed SAC but, generally speaking, I prefer the movie format over the serialized format. Macross Plus the Movie is a similar situation and I prefer it over the OAV. We'll see how Laughing Man turns out.

I believe Production IG also made a compilation for the second season (Individual Eleven).

Thanks for the info. I already have the UK box-set of the first season, so I'll just skip it.

I certainly hope so!

What's next should I watch? Maybe I should bring up the Cowboy Behop Remix to top of my queue (Netflix) list.

I missed this thread, glad it got bumped.
I'm currently watching Speed Grapher and it kicks much ass.

Even if they continue the series, I wouldn't expect to see a definitive ending any time soon. The FMP anime is based off a long-running series of light novels, and the author needs to keep dangling plot threads to leave things open for new installments.

The good news is that Tokyopop is translating the novels; so even if the anime adaptation stops, we'll eventually get the rest of the storyline. Unfortunately, they're really taking their sweet time getting these things released. (The first novel was released last month, and the second one isn't scheduled for release until January 2008.)

A little help needed. It's been awhile since I've seen Macross Plus ... but from what I remembered, I didn't take to it very well. If that still holds true should I avoid Robotech completely!!?????? This is the release that I was considering.

Thanks in advance ...

I just bought that box set - This is complete Robotech series - Macross Saga, Masters, and New Generation (and thick of extras). Macross Saga was shown on TV in mid 1980's - the original Robotech series. I have never seen Macross Plus before.

On side note, I tried to watch it, but it doesn't include subtitle (because I'm hearing impaired).
