It's great to see ADV straightening things for a bit. Plenty of interesting news: "We’re working with a new partner, Sentai Filmworks, which just acquired a number of anime titles. ADV is providing localization and some distribution services for Sentai"

But regardless, Clannad...

I just finished FF:U.
I thought it was good for the price, but I think the ending could have been better. IMO, it had me wanting more. Anyways, I would still recommend it. It get's repetitive since only one person can really defeat the monster's, but I wasn't bothered by it.

So I'm pretty damn hooked on Bleach. I'm glad they have finally gotten back to the Hueco Mondo story arc and everything is in full gear. I want to grab the manga but I think I will just wait every Tuesday night patiently and get my 20 minute fix.

I recently breezed through Deathnote after catching an episode of it on Adult Swim. Great series up until
Spoiler:
L gets killed
after that it is still good, but it just didn't carry the same magic. Still a good one short enough to get through in a week or so.

I just started up Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and after a few episodes I'm really getting into it. I hope it holds up through all of the episodes.

Anyways, yeah. That's what has been going on for me over the last month.

It will only get better. This is one of the best anime that I have seen this year. It's over the top, but I love it...

Glad to hear. I am 7 episodes in and I'm digging what is going on so far. Some of the characters are indeed way over the top, but in a good one. It also has the classic level-up feel to it so far. I'm having the problem of burning through stuff too quickly since I mainly watch these while working out (3-4 episodes at a stretch) and am trying to keep finding things to check out. Looks like I'll have to browse through this thread for awhile.

I hope it's as good as everyone have been saying. I have them on my Netflix queue. It seems that I'm running out of good animes. Most of them I have rented are medicore or just OK.

Right now, I'm watching "You're Under Arrest!" (TV), Genshiken, Rurouni Kenshin (now, disc #15 ), and The Third: Girl with the Blue Eyes.

Anyone know if Karin and Shonen Omnyouji will receive box set treatments after the final volumes are released? I'm close to the end of the Christmas shopping and wondering if I should wait on these titles.

Thanks for your help

It's possible that it may happen. The first season of Black Lagoon is getting a collection release. Then again, we don't know if they will do that for all of the ongoing series or not.

Thanks for your reply. I thought I had missed some release date info. I'll put these two on hold for now, then. Maybe the April/May dates will prove interesting...

I have been watching Gantz and one thing I noticed - well, it's my second time I noticed and it's bothering me.

Why did they keep changing art on some episodes? I noticed that on The Third - Girl with Blue Eye and now on Gantz. I wondered why they did that - is it because they're trying to keep up with work by splitting with different artists?

Hmmm, I've never noticed that before... but Gantz is a great show.

I dug the existential angle the show had. It was a bit slow, but I can do slow. Plus the show was ultra-violent, which works for me

Hey, (from the other thread we were going on about the packaging on Gantz) and I figured this was a more appropriate thread for any continuation. Mine just arrived in great shape. I'm sure I'll be putting the set through the line up shortly.

What are your impressions on the series so far?

Yeah, I was trying to avoid any anime discussion in bargain section. That's great that you got your sphere in good shape!

The series is pretty unique, but horrible story pacing with bad characters. I couldn't stand any of the characters especially Kei (male, there are two characters using Kei) and Kato. The story is pretty interesting at first, but it got bored after few episodes.

It does included lot of fighting and bloody/gory, but it's not bad comparing to Elfen Lied.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread. I really wanted to get the sphere packaging, but found it a bit too bulky. Elfen Lied is another show I thought was quite fascinating... not just because it was violent.

These days, I do my best to wait for boxed sets instead of buying individual volumes. The Viridian Collection is a blessing from the anime gods.

I agreed that sphere is bit too bulky, however, getting it for $30 from Rightstuf.com during 12-day of Christmas sale is great deal.

I still can't believe I haven't seen Black Lagoon. It's sitting on my self... taunting me!

You gotta love those great deals at Rightstuf

It seems as if the themes and the intriguing premise may carry me for awhile into the story but at two times the length of Elfen Lied the pacing as you mentioned might lead to some difficulty, especially if the characters turn out as unlikable as you found them to be.

But at least I'll begin on a down note now. Almost anything can turn into a classic if you approach it from the right perspective ... Woohoooo!!

Thanks again for the info on that ..and Basilisk.

I'm sure you'll watch it sometimes soon. You'll like Revy character (see my avatar ).

No, problem, visitor Q, I actually started watching animes last year and I'm already watched almost 100 animes since then (97 animes series/movies to be exact and yes, I kept track on what I have seen).

Wow, I was the same way when I started watching anime. It all began with "Now and Then, Here and There" and I've never looked back. Berserk is another must along with Gungrave and Noir.

So does anyone recommend (or advise against) getting the first "season" of Black Lagoon coming out on the 30th?

I think McHawkson pretty much has given the series his seal of approval

Berserk is classic anime, I really liked the series - but I got questions at end. I learned that the answer was only in manga. Gungrave is still on my Netflix list. Noir is great series - almost similar with Madlax.

If you like Cowboy Bebop, then you'll like this series.

Tsuneo Imahori's music in Gungrave is quite addictive.
