I have to be honest, for most of the episode I thought it was an alternate reality ep, so I was kind of bored. That ending was great though!

Another really good episode...well, that's three out of nine.
I guessed way back in the thread for the pilot about Laurie Garvey actually losing an unborn child during the 'vanishing'. I'm not sure if I should be happy I was right, or disappointed that it was pretty predictable.
We learned this week that members of the Guilty Remnant were feeling things and beginning to come together as a group BEFORE the disappearances, which is pretty interesting. I liked how the group of women driving by saw Kevin in a white shirt and smoking and assumed he was one of them.

So the Amy Brenneman's character had the same profession (therapist) that she had in her Private Practice role...interesting.
I wish they would show us the people actually disappearing. I mean, I'm sure there was enough video of it happening that would have been analyzed to look for any clues. Did they just completely vanish instantly? Did they phase out? Was it like a Star Trek transporter? I know that the show doesn't really care about this aspect, but I think it would be interesting to understand what people actually think happened.

Surprised and pleased that we got this episode which was a prequel for anything given in the book and served to flesh out all the main characters.
Fun to see Jill as an air-headed 13(?) year old with braces and the actress did a great job with that.
The whole trapped deer metaphor with Kevin's character seems too simplistic. Is he a 'bad husband' who cheats on his wife? Is he going crazy because his dad is crazy and its inherited? Or is he tuned in to some religious spiritual element that makes crazy things happen to him when no one is around? I just think his character isn't as well thought out as the others on the show.
I don't blame Justin Theroux. He certainly knows how to bring 'intense, moody Black Irish type' to the part.
And was anyone else distracted by Theroux's huge schlong freeballing in his sweatpants as he ran through town? Was that padded on purpose to show that his character is out trolling for strange pussy on his daily runs or does Theroux just have a good shot at giving Jon Hamm a run for his money?

Apparently I'm not as up to date on celebrity shlongs as some posters, but yeah it was noticeable and a bit distracting

That was pointless and boring. They didn't really reveal anything with this flashback that I didn't already assume. The show already feels like it's going nowhere, and this just took yet another step back.
And why would their clothes be gone when they disappeared? But baby's in car seat, the seat is still there, or the car. It just raises too many questions not to expect answers.

If this was supposed to be the first show of the series I think a lot more people might have stayed with it.
The way they chose to air the episodes with the those first 3 downers in a row probably drove off half the audience.
Still deciding if Theroux has just got big balls or if that's all schlong, the way it bunches up doesn't quite look right....

Damn good episode. Despite all my bitching/complaining about the earlier episodes, this one made me glad that I stuck it through.

Same here. Fantastic episode. This has been such a frustrating season. 2 or 3 very good hours of TV thus far. Let's see how the season finale stacks up in a couple weeks.

I'm happy to report that I never noticed a bulge and hope I never do. Beyond that I thought it was a great episode. So many questions that I had about the characters were answered. Everyone was pretty different before the departure, except for Patty. Go figure. It was nice to hear Amy Brenneman speak!

Finally caught this episode from last week, and I thought it was great! I liked that they waited til the end of the season for a flashback episode that tell's us everything because its a great payoff for watching the first 8 episodes. Unfortunately, I think they lost many viewers along the way who didn't make it to this episode.
I'm in for season 2 as I really like this show now. Sure its got its faults, but it keeps you on your toes and I have finally come to like some of the characters on the show.

So was that the season finale?
We finally caught up last night. I was pretty down on the episode until the end when I kind of figured out where it was going. One takeaway from this season: the daughter, happy or sad, is the single most irritating character on any tv show I'm watching right now, and I would not be disappointed to see her disappear from the show one way or another.
And as much as I'm enjoying the show, I find it exhausting how depressing it is. I know that's hardly an original observation. It's like every episode exists only to make you feel worse than you did after watching the previous one. I think my wife has officially checked out, but I'm hanging around for season 2 for sure.
