I highly doubt any store will allow you to preorder more than one, at least not at launch, but good luck.

Like many, he uses both (because engagement on twitter/X is still a lot higher)

Wario reporting.a June release date.

Dev kits in June? That's kind of late isn't it? Especially if they expect a holiday release date? I thought one of the big advantages for delaying (seemingly) the Switch 2 would have been extra development time to have a robust offering for it's first year.

It's unconventional, but I guess they want an all-inclusive launch?

If the report is true, I wonder if it means something similar to what we saw with the Switch, where there were a bunch of third-party games early on, but it felt more curated. The eShop onslaught from smaller developers took a while.

Knowing that it will be fully backwards compatible makes me less worried about launch titles. I still have close to 10 Switch games I need to get through.

Wow, just seeing that brings back very painful memories. When the newest XBox was released, I tried for six months to get one. Every time that they would release a tweet, I always came up short before finally getting one. I hope the Switch 2 isn't as hard to come by.

Maybe Nintendo puts these out in numbers that surpass the scalpers but I doubt it for a few reasons:
1. They want to get this out there as soon as possible, so they aren't waiting to release until they have a ton of units
2. The sell out hype absolutely benefits them

It's only gotten worse with scalpers, bots, and everyone and their mother following Wario64.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

1. Isn't that another benefit of delaying the Switch 2 release and what the rumors have been? That it's been in production now for quite some time and they have the most units to sell of any launch....
2. ......and yet this is very true as well. And Nintendo has been accused of this a lot over the years. But they've also publicly apologized, even bowing to the fans, and each new console release does generate an insane amount of demand. So who really knows what the truth is.

So I guess we'll see how the Switch 2 release goes. I didn't get a Switch or a WiiU on release. I did stand in line for the NES and SNES classic. I have to go back all the way to the Wii for me to be able to say I was there on release day. I remember the demand for the Wii actually took a month or two before it was scarce. Release day was pretty easy. Just got there when Target opened and there was a modest line but they had plenty for everyone there.

Wario64 hasn't let me down for getting releases and limited edition stuff though. Even if I can't get it day one I'm pretty confident I'll be able to get one soon.

The Switch and OG NES are the only two launches I've missed.

There were similar rumors about mass production of the Wii prior to launch (7 million at launch!) and that turned out to be bogus, so I'm skeptical about similar Switch 2 rumors.

All of them

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

One thing I find surprising is that they didn't stop production of the Switch in time. The stores still have a lot of stock of many of the different Switch models. They usually are pretty good about stopping production so that there aren't many of the old model in stock to "compete" with the new model. I wonder if they're still planning on selling the Switch? Or will they recall the units? Or will they actually reduce the price until it sells out? I doubt it. The last console that I can remember that went on clearance was the Sega Dreamcast. Even the WiiU didn't go on clearance. At least not officially. For awhile there were refurbished units that Nintendo themselves sold. That's when I finally picked one up. But I always wondered if they were brand new units that they just didn't sell and so packaged them as refurbs.
