Doing the system transfer from my Switch OLED now. 🤞

How did it go?

After setting everything up today, I have to say nice job Nintendo on making the transfer process so smooth.

I thought the transfer was quick and painless, with two caveats. One, it was a little opaque about what to do with my Hong Kong profile, which I admittedly don’t care too much about. (I only use it for imports with region-locked DLC.) The other was for Animal Crossing. It carried over my wife’s island from the other Switch but made her go through several screens that made it sound as if the island had been disconnected from her profile. I would’ve expected it to be more seamless.

Yeah mostly smooth. Had to to charge my old Switch because the battery was at 0. Then had to update it before the update option would even show up.
I worry about loading up Animal Crossing and honestly I’d rather have left it on the old Switch but it didn’t give me that option at all.

8 USB ports out of 10.

Mine totally filled up the memory space overnight with like 25 games. It would have been nice to pick and choose what games you wanted to download, but it's easy enough to delete stuff afterwards. I really need that new SD card back in Vegas now.

I just had that ac plug required, but other than that it went ok. But, most these games still need to be downloaded correct? I see bars under mine and know they need to be downloaded before playing.

it’s still there and playable though. You just might have to start from the beginning, no?

You can probably transfer the AC island back if you want.

Randomly went to Costco today and they had 5 bundles in stock, so I grabbed one. That's how I wanted to get one, zero effort.

Yeah me too. I left it downloading MKW after transferring everything over and it just downloaded EVERYTHING. I still have a data cap on my internet :(

I guess I will keep it as my switch going forward so I might just need that microSD express card sooner than I thought. I guess this is one advantage of having most of my games still physical.

As I had wondered about, the upgrade is just a download of assets, not a new version of the game (which is how PS4 to PS5 upgrades worked).

Did you guys know about the Zelda Notes app you can download on your smart devices to help you explore and play the Switch 2 editions of those two games?

Yeah it has some guide mode on it. But I REALLY wish it was just baked in to the game itself. I don't want to have to have my phone out and juggle that while playing. I played some Splatoon 3 and that game did look slightly improved even though it didn't receive any graphical improvements. I think it could just be the output capability of the Switch 2. Or the HDMI cable. Or just the settings. I haven't really investigated it. But even the menu looks a lot more crisp and clean.

^haha we're so old.

Finally got a little bit of MKW time in. Played three grand prix with the kids. We're having a blast so far. It's actually a lot to get used to. It's quite a bit different from previous MKs. I want to criticize the maps as being the types of maps I don't like that change all the time or one big straight shot so you don't really get to know the course. But we were having too good of a time. With Autosteer my kids even genuinely beat me a few times much to their surprise and delight. So that's what it's all about. That's exactly why I gladly paid $500 for this machine. I know not everyone is in the same boat as I am but it's well worth it to me and will continue to bring many hundreds of hours of joy over the years.

Still couldn't get my wife to play though.....she's just a bump on a log when it comes to video games. Would rather scroll social media. -rolleyes-

Okay, let me tell y’all : Fast Fusion is awesome. Looks absolutely gorgeous, Eye-melting frame rate. Great music. Very clever polarity-based racing mechanic (think Outland on XBLA, but in an anti-gravity racing game).
Seriously, this is the best $15 game I’ve seen since the early days of XBLA. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

so, Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom for a first time play through on SW2? or should i go old school and start with Ocarina of Time (since I've heard this is one of the best)?

you sold me and for $15, can't beat that! and i generally don't like racing games until i tried MKW. that changed my mind and from the video i saw of this game, it looked gorgeous.

Looking at this also. I skipped Breath and Tears on Switch 1, but thinking I will jump on at least one of them now while we we are in a lull for new titles. Online says play both, but also says Tears is just overall better.

so many sites say Ocarina, but that might be a little too old school for me. i think I'd rather play a newer more premium title. thanks Deck.

I was transferring all my games and data from my Switch to the Switch 2 with no problem. For some reason, my Mario Kart 8 DLC did not transfer. Does anyone know how I can transfer it to my new Switch? Thank you.

Can you still see the game on your old Switch? if so, maybe just delete, redownload and then transfer. or got to eShop on new Switch, look up the game and if purchased, just redownload.

Mine did during my transfer. In fact it did it first. Did you just run out of memory space on your new Switch 2?
