Still in stock at my local Target. They had quite a few. I think maybe nine (they were three deep and three or four rows).
|
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
I’m really starting to wonder if they didn’t quite sell as well because of the price and all of Nintendo’s shenanigans.
Being still available the evening of launch is pretty odd….. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Agreed. I think the whole preordering, knowing barely anything was nothing more than a fiasco. I didn’t even see any commercials on tv. I think the first trailer I saw was in front of Final Reckoning. Not once on tv except ABC reporting on it and the long lines, etc on the news all day yesterday and today. Overestimation would not be an eggsaeration.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Just played my first race and won right off the bat. Looked and felt gorgeous. The controls, I’ll have to get used to, but so far so good. The grips on my controller is the exact black as Pro 2 and they feel great. Not sure about these ones coming for GC controller, but we’ll see.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
My Switch had a delivery window of 2:45-4:45. It’s been out for delivery since 9:30 am it’s almost an hour late.
Now it changed to 7pm. I bet it comes tomorrow. |

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Ha, switching the USB-C cables (only one of which was plugged into a full AC charging port) between the two systems, three times in total, finally allowed me to do the transfer. 😂

^ Glad mine has a simple sticker & code in the box! Jeez, what a messy way to redeem a discounted game.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
I picked mine up at Gamestop last night. Went in at 10:50pm, and was headed home by 11:10pm. Highly organized, and streamlined. There were probably ~40 people there when I got there, and 6 more came right before 11pm.
I had to run to Target late this afternoon (4:30ish), and they still had both bundles available. I decided to stop by Walmart closest to home, and they had the Mario Kart bundle left, but weirdly no Switch 2 games on the sales floor? They had another case with controllers, screen protectors, micro sd express cards, cameras, and some cases stocked. They had the Hori Piranha camera, I'm just not sure how the lower resolution will affect the pictures... |

I love the contrast at the end with GameStop. Walmart spoke with Aftermath and explained that they wanted to create a “feel good moment” for gamers who purchased the new console. VS “We’ve addressed a unique case of staples damaging Switch 2 screens—isolated to one store. Replacements have been offered. Staplers have been confiscated,” |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
So, there is a protective film on the console already and thus we don’t need a screen protector, correct? I don’t even see where you would pull off this film that I can’t see.

Give me a little credit here Adam, I’ve owned a Switch for 8 years. I know there’s a USB-C slot on the bottom of the unit. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
7:00 and still no Switch 2. Apparently it’s been out for delivery for 10 hours. Are they driving around in circles in the middle of the desert?
|
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Pretty sure Decker knows the docks have USB on them.

I'm waiting for someone to figure it out and tell me what I should do. In the meantime I'll probably baby it. |

Is there a USB port on the actual Switch unit? I don't have the dock. |

I read on another forum that the transfer process is fussy about USB cables being plugged in, but it’s not fussy about what the cables are plugged into. So it sounds as if you don’t even need two AC adapters. And I saw this on Reddit: I used the Switch 2 OEM usb-c and power adapter to the Switch 1 until the message went away. Then Switch 2 asked for the same thing, unplugged it from the Switch 1 (plugged the non-OEM to that), and replugged the Switch 2 OEM back to the Switch 2. Works like a charm!

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
We probably should have just kept Oldboys Switch 2 thread and just put all the release discussion there.
Oh well, it will be fun to look back at 8 years from now when we're at war with China and controlling our Home Protection Drones with our Switch 2s and seeing the debate here on if Decker knows what a USB port is or reminiscing on getting surprise snacks from Walmart. Fun times. |

You don’t have to use a USB-A-to-USB-C cable. The AC adapters for each console have USB-C connectors, and I plugged each adapter directly into each console, bypassing the docks. Whatever method you’re using to charge the OG Switch without the dock should work.
I read on another forum that the transfer process is fussy about USB cables being plugged in, but it’s not fussy about what the cables are plugged into. So it sounds as if you don’t even need two AC adapters. Mine was incredibly fussy about being plugged into AC adapters. I have tons of little charging AC blocks and none of them were acceptable for my system. Of course I had the new charger that came with the Switch 2, but nothing else would work. Eventually I switched which Switch was plugged into that charger (while the other was plugged into a standard little USB-C AC charging block) — first the Switch 2 to start the transfer, then the OG to accept the sending of data, then once the transfer began, the Switch 2 again. That method managed to bypass the checks the systems seemed to run and allowed me to finally transfer my data. Edit : I guess that’s what the Reddit guy was saying to do. I didn’t mean any offense. I hold you in very high regard! |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
While I still haven’t really played anything on the Switch 2 yet, my wife did fire up Animal Crossing, and the load times are dramatically faster.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
MKW is delightful!
|
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Ran out of time tonight before having to head in to work. Was able to set up and transfer but it was still downloading MKW.
It's weird not having a physical game to go with the system though....I do miss opening that and plugging that in the console for the very first time. I think you had the right idea Adam. I guess I'll just wait for DK. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Maybe if it drops to $200 or less I might get it one day but not paying a fortune to get it off Stock X or Ebay. -rolleyes-

edited to add: also with tariffs the way they are, there is a non zero chance the retail price goes UP by Christmas. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Don’t forget that you can set the charge % limit.
I think I prefer the black theme. |

I don't play video games but was wondering what the fuss was all about with people waiting in line overnight and the console sold out everywhere. |

Its the brand new release of a Nintendo console. It's been 8 years since that's happened so yeah there's a big fuss about it.
Nintendo hadn't released a console in a period of time even longer than the Niners had between their loss to the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII and their loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. So you can just imagine the anticipation that has built up! |

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Apparently Fast Fusion, which is only $14.99 is a really good launch game on the S2. I was totally unaware of the series but people seem to like it. I am seriously considering it. Much better deal than the Welcome Tour.
|
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Yup, got Fast Fusion after hearing about it (and a random $5 coupon from Best Buy). I’ve got the games, just need the system to get here.
