Yes, you just have to own the previous games to get the next one, so if you already own it you're fine for the next game.

Sadly for me, I already own both games so far. We'll see if there's a unique game they haven't given away before.

Square just had a Dragon Quest stream, lots of switch stuff:


DQ XII basically restarted development so while they showed some of it off don't expect that for a couple of years. sigh.
DQXI will get a switch 2 version that hits the trifecta of crap: game key card, no upgrade path and no save file transfer from the switch version. This is all par for the course for them but man I'm curious how this does outside of Japan since I don't see much besides a graphical upgrade (which is STILL not as nice as the PS4 version) AND the old version is dirt cheap.
Another Monsters game is coming out. The previous Monsters game is on sale for 10 bucks in the eshop as of yesterday.

No new remakes yet.

I realize I'm spoiled but man I hate switch 2 versions that don't at least have backward compatibility with the switch 1 version, especially for long JRPGs.

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous and inexcusable -- especially for game that were released on Switch 1 before the Switch 2 launch.
