I’m playing on normal. I don’t think the puzzles would be affected. Only the combat, I would imagine.

I read the spoilers and have no idea what the fuck they even mean.

Not going to repeat them hear because I don't even remember what they were.

Well, there's a majority out there I'd say that have heard in some form or another the so-called and hyped "Rowling's Controversary."....a lot of people if not most who wanted the game they don't care and in fact I've seen a lot on forums say they were buying it to counter the pushback to Rowling. Sadly it's still being pushed mainly from a lot outside the Gaming World and don't care one bit about it; it's all about Rowling's....BUT I will say there are some in the Gaming News Industry that have kept this alive mentioning it in Game Reviews and Commentary Articles.....

I looked around for reviews for this game which a majority give it well deserved high praise and marks...but strangely one high profile site...Gamespot...has yet to provide one....they have also been one keeping the Rowling's Controversy alive.... Febuary 6th Article....

^ The JKR stuff is being well covered in the Political Forum (so it doesn’t have to be discussed here), for those interested. I posted that Gamespot article link there.

This controller is currently out of stock. I wouldn’t get it and certainly don’t need another. But for HP fans, it’s pretty nice.

Pretty fantastic game so far. The tie in to the movie universe is crucial to this game, or at least my interest in it. If they'd tried to reinvent this universe just for this game, I doubt I'd be as invested as I am.

Same reason I enjoyed the LOTR series so much.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy - 2/10/23 (Xbox, PS, Steam)

I'm very early on but they do a remarkable job of recreating everything hogwarts. It's just so cool to wander around and explore. I made a character that looks very much like a young version of me and it's just such a treat to watch him interact with the professors and other students. There's fun stuff to explore all around. I just wish I could make my character use it the wand and his left hand but apparently that's not an option.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy - 2/10/23 (Xbox, PS, Steam)

yeah, i played some more today. it's just a joy to see the recreations of what many think are the books of the century. they were so detailed and faithful in the game.

the learning the spells is the only thing i don't get. why do you have to do a simple follow the path before red thing gets you? there are just easy and seem so out of place. i wouldn't mind a true puzzle to gain a spell, but not follow the dots. minor quibble.

it is getting a little complicated knowing which spells you have and what button press activates it. i keep forgetting and i don't see a how to use spell in the menus.

i do love the spells though. levioso, reparo, accui (sp?), lumify or whatever. just find it hard to remember which is which button and when trolls are attacking you you don't have time to think which buttons to press.

I also love that with the DualShock controller you can hear every spell cast, cats purring, etc. Very cool little thing I just noticed.

How many times have you asked "Why PS5 over XSX?" and I have answered "Dual Sense controller" ? Now you get what I was talking about. It's a completely different experience. And a real missed opportunity by MS.

When You fight the troll I beat it without dying. I was able to just spam the basic starter spell and use my telekinetic magic to take him down

Re: Hogwarts Legacy - 2/10/23 (Xbox, PS, Steam)

I'm about 15 hours in now. Such a fantastic game. If there wouldn't be an assumption that I'm hung over from the super bowl, I would have considered using PTO to play all day to day.

Two things I wish it had: The ability to use a camera view that's a bit more zoomed out and locking the mini map rather than it spinning with me. I want to know if I'm moving North without having to look at the letters on the outside. I didn't see options for either in the Settings.

In a thread dedicated to playing and learning about the game it’s perfectly apropos here to say enough with the fucking controversy. That, as mentioned, belongs in another thread.

Has anyone found any decent way to make money? Even selling all the gear I'm not using, I never have enough to stock up on potions and materials to make more potions.

I did. I bumped it up to hard, which was fine for misc combat in the open world and in the early part of dungeons. But I made it to a story mission yesterday (big dungeon) and got absolutely slaughtered.

I think if spell switching in the game was more streamlined the fight would've been manageable, but trying to jump between spell sets and dodge enemies and counter attacks and monitor health turned out to be a real bastard.

Agree, judging the difficulty off that early fight isn't the best idea. It gets harder when you have 4 or 5 enemies coming at you at once.

I don't think it's that you said fuck the controversy. It's the fact that you called it BS, when it certainly is not. It's very personal for some of us, and it's not BS for us to avoid supporting Rowling because of it. I have never told anyone else not to play it though. Everyone can make that decision for themselves.

Now, I will see myself out of this thread.
