Also, I know this a dumb question, but I need two wired controllers, right?
I honestly don't know. I haven't used either of them. I have just heard that the PowerA and Hori made wired controllers are pretty good. You only need one of them. One player would use the JoyCon with or without the included grip and the other player would use the wired controller. If you want to have 3 players then you would need to buy a second wired controller. My advice if you really just need it for two just buy one wired and save your next controller purchase to be a wireless controller like the pro controller or an 8bit do controller.

Also I'm not sure if you saw but Gamestop has several games for $27. Might be hard to find physical but I believe digital is still available.

Re: Game questions from a newb

Ha, it was great, thanks!

It was actually Hannukah for the Switch (with Mario Kart and Tennis).

Then for Xmas (well, not on Xmas because I am going through a divorce and didn't have her for Xmas), I gave her (me!) Legend of Zelda and Mario + Rabbids. We actually played a bunch of all of them this weekend. And it's a good variety of games, a driving game, a sports game, a role playing game, and a turn based strategy game.

For her birthday (this month), I also have Hades and Monopoly/Trivial Pursuit/Risk.

And I bought a wired controller, screen protector, and that case that was linked.

It's been a great addition to our house. And thank you to you and all the people who have provided advice, you made this process SO much easier!
