Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

NBA 2K22 is taking on a new level of realism by adding every NBA team’s Public Address Announcer in-game.

How cool is this?!

PA announcers and holy shit they got LT from the Lakers!! Sold!!

Too bad the Bulls fired Ray Clay years ago. he was one of the best.

I see they also have the Pistons announcer who goes Buh Buh Buh Billups.

Anyone here has played this one? How is it so far? Was the shooting controls fixed?

I actually pre-ordered the PS4 version from Gamestop. Going to try to pick it up later.

This review says that shooting is improved and not broken like last season.

I usually don't get my game reviews from Utah church newspapers.

It was one of the first 3 that popped up. There aren't that many written reviews right now since this just came out 2 days ago.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

The posts on forums I've read say that the defense is smarter and it's not as easy to spam turbo. Which is cool besides the fact that it takes so much VC to actually get your player to even an average NBA journeyman level that I'm not sure I'm ready to invest that time in yet again unless there are a lot of other thing that are just way superior to the version I just bought for dirt cheap.

So much of each iteration, even the next gen ones, seems like a copy paste of the last game down to the heads, locker rooms, etc. And then last year for whatever reason they even removed part of the presentation with no Shaq, Ernie and Kenny (I actually thought my game was glitching just going straight to warmups). The only way I can justify buying this at full price anymore is if they do a complete overhaul somehow or if you love to play online and are willing to put the time and/or money into being competitive there.

I usually wait till Black Friday to pick up a copy. Apparently there still some lingering issues/ glitches from years back that are still popping up in the game.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I'm struggling so far. I have always bought 2K for PlayStation. This year I decided to get it for the Xbox Series X due to I don't have a lot of games for it. The controls are so different, I can't make a basket to save my life. I am going to have to sit down and really give this game my full attention in order to play it.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I put in my NBA 2K22 disc last night and then let it install the update files.

It's unplayable without the update, so I put it in sleep mode and went to bed.
It took 8 hours and 45 minutes to install. Holy shit.

I put the disc in around Midnight, took it out after it was set to install and just checked that it finished installing at 8:45am this morning.

These install times are ridiculous. I miss the old days when you can just put the disc in and play and maybe only download updated rosters.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I played for about an hour.

The rosters are currently not up to date. Gasol is still a Laker and Rondo is still on the Clippers.

For some odd reason, there are two sets of play by play teams.

Kevin Harlan, Clark Kellogg, Greg Anthony and David Aldridge are #1

Brian Anderson, Candace Parker, Grant Hill and Allie La Force are #2

There are some glitches with the announcing teams. Say Allie La Force talks, they throw up a graphic that says "David Aldridge reporting"

I've never seen that in 2K having two sets of PXP teams

There is a shot meter. It's definitely better than last year, but it's still challenging.

and you do hear the local team's PA announcer. I could hear Lawrence Tanter on the Lakers, but it's faint.

Another glitch I noticed was the Spurs 2021-22 team. On the page where you set your lineup, the background mural is the old school Spurs with Duncan and Robinson as opposed to having a current player.

I still have Gasol on the roster. I have Rondo on my roster as well. I wonder why he's showing up on two different teams?

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I played a game last night and the rosters now appear to be updated. Rondo is a Laker as well as DeAndre Jordan.

Still not shooting very well. I played and lost a game to the Bulls, but I shot around 39%. The shooting is based on getting the timing right. I managed to make a few 3's with Westbrook and Monk.

It is on the Switch, sounds like it's a decent port from what I have heard.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I picked the game up for PS5 on Wednesday and for the life of me I can’t make a fucking shot. The whole shooting thing is broken as it goes against the natural motion of not only the shooter but what we look at in the screen. A shooter is supposed to release at the top of their jump yet the stupid game has a bar that is asking for the shot button to be pressed when the shooter is almost in the middle of the jump in order to make a basket. Why the hell they had to change this 2 years in a row from their great shooting motion they had in 2k20. Also, the players feel heavier to handle and like they are being pulled away from the ball handler in defense. Basically players are hard to control, like if we are trying to reign a stallion.

This is the type of shit that happens when there’s no competition in the sports game world

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I think this is the first time I ran into this, probably because I usually buy the newest versions, but I decided to stick with 2k20 on my switch. I guess I should have expected it but man it's a kick in the nuts to think that twoyears down the line, because they turned off the servers, much of the game can't even be loaded.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

This game is seriously broken. It has happened to me at least 20 times where I hit the shooting meter timing on excellent and wide open (basically green lights for both metrics) and missed the shot. What’s the point of the shooting meter then?

Finally bought this because they were selling it for 80 percent off when you open up last years version. It’ll probably be free on plus or whatever soon.

Re: NBA 2K22 - All versions

I downloaded this on Game Pass. Absolutely awful shooting controls. I turned off the shot meter and I’m still bricking shots with my player 80 overall. Meanwhile the CPU is draining threes like Steph and Klay. I uninstalled it. Total garbage.

I miss the glory days of Lakers vs Celtics where it felt like a players odds of draining a shot were based on statistical history instead of how well I could master letting go of a button at the absolute peak of a jump.

There is a setting (I think) that allows you to shoot off of their rating rather than timing. It's actually a bit controversial because I've seen people complain about it that people are cheesing online hitting all kinds of fallaway shots based on their ratings.

I do think that while some of it is just the grind of getting your shooting stats up there in myplayer, there's also something to be said for making sure you're taking wide open shots. I haven't really had a problem (at least on lower difficulties, because I hate how higher difficulties nerf the AI of your teammates and your own shots) with jumpshots. Now that stupid layup/dunk bar, screw that.
