Just put in a best buy order. After some thought, I decided it wasn't worth it to wait a year for it to show up on XSX / Game Pass, especially if this game makes good use of the adaptive triggers.
Now let's see if I can actually pick it up tomorrow or of this hurricane is going to be a real problem...

with buying 19 games from 8/2-9/3 with couple preorders included. 3 maybe. I’m sure I’ll have enough for 1 year

I wouldn’t have waited either if system releases were reversed.l and I had both, of course.
I told a friend just today that I’ll never finish them in my lifetime. Man that’s a depressing truth.

^ if the exclusively is indeed 12 months, then yes, it'll be on Game Pass then. That's what I had read, but I don't remember where.
Picked up my PS5 copy just now. They didn't have the steelbook though, so it's being shipped. Weird.

Having never given a shit about this game before, I am now intrigued by all of the stellar reviews. I just don't generally care for Bethesda's games.

Dishonored or Prey?
To me, these are the kind of games that are Bethesda in name only.

Yeah. Bethesda is just publisher on this one, the developer is Arkane Studios, miles away from the in-house dev teams of Fallout/Elder Scrolls.

This looked cool early on but admittedly fell off my radar until those reviews. Damn. Might have to give it another look.

Played through the first two missions. Enjoyed it for the most part, but have some reservations about the overall feel, including on-screen text being very small on the PS5 version, shallow FOV, and controls not feeling quite right. Music and voice acting is great. The game really does kind of drop you into each scenario and gives you the freedom to handle it however you want. And unlike the Dishonored games, you can't just save a dozen times to get a 'perfect' outcome. You have to roll with your mistakes here
I dig it, and I'm sure once I get a better handle of the controls, I'll be more comfortable with it.

My copy is bouncing around the country courtesy of FedEx. Maybe I might get it by Thursday...

I was only able to put in a few hours last night. Got to the point where I have the names of the 8 people. Fun so far but nothing amazing (yet).

Put a few more hours in. The idea of hunting down leads each day is cool; I've killed 2 visionaries but it really means nothing at this point other than getting some items since I'll have to be able to kill everyone in one cycle.
Honestly, still not seeing anything that would make this game a 10/10 or even 9/10 but I still have a long way to go.

I've put some time in and really like it so far, mostly. There are some built-in, not sure if they're side-quests or what, but things in a given day it seems you can do that I've found frustrating. One was to create some uplink, which I finally figured out how to do, and then it went up slowly and just stopped at 91%. I moved on. Also I'm not a fan of, "Do this. Oh look, it does not have power. Now go find a power source." Maybe just a personal pet peeve in games.
But by FAR my biggest complaint is, in the middle of a firefight, "Your gun is jammed. Press square." I'm not sure who thought this would be a nice addition to the game, but it's ridiculous. It happens way too often and only serves to frustrate. Beyond annoying.
All that said, I love the vibe of the game and its creativity (though it clearly borrows heavily from Dishonored, which I don't mind at all). Overall I'm enjoying it, but gotta kind of agree I'm not exactly blown out of the water just yet.

Hmm maybe I’ll hold off. I was going to go pick this up today.
I have approximately 100 hours left of the Mass Effect trilogy. Completing it four times on this generation is enough.
I plan on picking up Back 4 Blood and Vanguard. I’ve also barely touched Aliens. I hate having unplayed games sitting around considering how quick they drop in price.
Also have the OHMC coming up and all my spare time is devoted to that.

I was going to wait for a sale but it seems like online won't be very active a year from now since it's technically a single player game?

I don’t understand the question. It’s primarily a single player game so that would make waiting for a sale a good idea. But it does have an optional online PvP aspect as well.

Alright, I've put over ten hours into it now, and I'm having a blast. It has what I consider a fairly steep learning curve at first, and the whole Deathloop mechanic can be a little tough to wrap your head around as it pertains to events in the game.
I'm playing mostly stealth, butt when I get caught, I go guns blazing until the immediate area is clear.
The game feels small because
But I think that's a bit deceiving because there's a lot of looping to do in order to sort out... everything. I don't really know how long this will actually take. I already know how/when to kill two Visionaries, but the others are still a total mystery to me.
I hate the gun jamming... and I feel like the adaptive triggers leave a bit to be desired, but it's good. Really good.

That by the time the game drops in price, others will have mastered the PVP and the online multi-player will just be filled with Trolls. I know you can turn it off but it sounds like such a fun aspect of the game.

It’s an online mode designed specifically for trolls. It won’t take long to be full of them.

Yeah I would but worry about that at all. The entire point of the online aspect is to
and if they add more interactivity beyond that very limited scope with an expansion later, gamers will come back to it.
I'm pretty sure it's crossplay, so you'll see a big boost in matchmaking in a year when it's on GP, too.

I picked it up and played for an hour. Interesting but not really impressed. Definitely too much going on I think. This does this which does that which will do this if this happens and you do that but not that or that unless of course you have this.
I’ll probably get rid of it.

I've put in over 10 hours at this point and I'm still not feeling it. What the hell are all these reviews talking about? Am I playing a different game?
The first time I played I found a gun that had a silencer as a trait. I've literally not needed a single gun since; even the flashy gold-tier weapons from killing visionaries/Julianna. I infuse them but they just stay in my inventory. I'm already very bored of the 4 small areas which I can basically navigate with my eyes closed at this point. The story is still a big mystery as it was at start except for one random pieces Julianna said when I was leaving the tunnels for a basic quest. I guess the story isn't great until the end when you know what's happening?
Invading other's game is fun but gets old quick.

I've enjoyed it so far, playing in single player mode all the time. At first I thought the invasions were a glitch, until I realized that Julianna was acting more like an NPC than a player.
I kind of like the familiarity of the areas, especially considering how different they are at other times, and how you can affect them.
