@LucasfilmGames: A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is being developed by the award-winning studio, @MachineGames, and executive produced by game industry icon Todd Howard of Bethesda Games Studios. Learn more at https://t.co/cfr49ZN4ei. https://t.co/iUpMVlnC1O

This could be very interesting if done right. Could rival something like the Uncharted series, which were some of my favorite PS3 games (didn’t have a PS4 to play the other games). I’d prefer Indiana Jones to continue as a video game series versus new films without Harrison Ford.

This definitely looks to be Microsoft's answer to the Uncharted franchise.

Lucasfilm games is really a thing in name only these days, correct?
I'd say that I'd be surprised that Disney would console lock such a big property, but they've already done it with Spider-Man, which is arguably a bigger property. They're basically just selling the rights to these games to whoever offers them the most money.

Correct. Basically the name value for their properties, with the work farmed out to whomever. In this case, Bethesda.Originally Posted by Obi-Wan Jabroni

I would assume the Spider-man thing is as a result of Sony having the movie rights and it making sense to have Sony handle the game for the character.

Almost forgot that Microsoft owns Bethesda. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game is at least a timed exclusive and goes multi platform later.

Machine Games has done all the recent Wolfenstein games so their bread and butter is first-person shooter, but I can't imagine this game being an FPS.
Speaking of Indy, I'd love to see a remaster of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. That's one point and click I never did play and I've heard it's one of the best.

Where's all the exclusive speculation coming from? The tweet says from Todd Howard OF Bethesda. It doesn't say from Bethesda Studios. This is Disney and Lucasarts, I can't imagine they'd leave money on the table by going exclusive.

No they didn't. Spider-man is a Sony property and has been for decades. Long before Disney buying Marvel was a thing. Originally Posted by Obi-Wan Jabroni

Might not be, but with Microsoft owning Bethesda now like mentioned earlier this could be their answer to the Uncharted series. In that case it might make sense that they’d release this game on Xbox and PC first, and then maybe port to PlayStation later.
As far as Spider-Man, there have been other cross platform games so it’s not like the character has always been locked into PlayStation only. It’s only been the two Insomniac Games that have been exclusives.

Yeah Sony owns Spider-Man for movies only. They don't even hold merchandise rights for the movies, Marvel does.
It also says the game is being developed by Machine Games, which is technically separate from Bethesda, but also a Microsoft property.

Microsoft isn't buying up studios so those studios can continue to release games multi-platform. Obviously games that were already contracted are going to but they are trying to move people to their system and Game Pass. They are certainly willing to leave money on the table in the short term if it is going to make them money in the long term.

I payed the complete Monkey Island series, but I never had the chance to play Date of Atlantis, or Grim Fandango.Originally Posted by shizawn

As far as Indy goes, I would expect some kind of benefit for MS, being the owners of Machine Games. Whether that's full exclusivity, timed exclusivity, or something else.
I also can't imagine Indy as a FPS, so hopefully it doesn't go that route.

The FPS approach seems odd to me, but I can't deny it looks like it might be fun.

Wish it was on PS5. Looks pretty good but making it first person does seem odd and also Troy Baker does fine enough as the voice but at times does sound off.
