If they don't fix the shooting mechanics and free throw meter, I might be out too. I love the series, but I'm not paying $60 for a fucking broken sports game.

Well, it seem that the game/demo is broken. Reminds me of the shitty demo EA released for NBA Live/Elite 11 ten years ago. That shit demo caused the franchise to go on a hiatus.

Yup that’s horrible. 2K cannot put it out like this or they will kill the sales. The shooting is a disaster.

I dunno, this looks like an accurate representation of me trying to play basketball. Maybe they're going for extreme realism.

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

I looked up comments on social media and a lot of gamers are unhappy with the demo and say the same thing that it's broken.

2K21 could be a disaster if they don't fix it.

I saw nothing wrong with the shot and FT functions on 2K20. Don't know they needed to fuss with it and make it worse.

I read some comments from verified purchasers and the vast majority say this edition sucks. The biggest complaint is the excruciating hard shooting.

This game appears to be a bomb. This will probably be the first edition I will have to pass on. Bummer, I love the series.

Why change the shooting dynamics if they weren't broken to begin with? And most likely, they didn't fix the glitches and other stuff that people have actually complained about it for years now. Even worse, no reason to do this when everyone was working remotely during the pandemic and is the year a lot of people are going to purchase the game because of Kobe. I know these guys don't have competition right now, but this is the second game of the year they have screwed badly (other one being WWE2K20). They need to get their shit together.

Totally agree. I wanted to buy the 100 dollar Kobe edition, but with the shot meter screwed up so bad I can't even score, plus all of the bugs and glitches, I won't be buying 2K21 at all. People will chew EA a new one over Madden, but somehow 2K always gets a pass.

Nah, 2k doesn't get a pass. But like Madden, the vocal detractors will always get drowned out by the people who buy it sight unseen (and who will also spend real money on tiny shoes).

Game is getting horrible reviews online, many saying that it is unplayable. 2K better get a patch ready if the want to salvage this. Otherwise, they'll get the same hate that WWE 2K20 got last year.

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

I was surprised they released this last week. Given that the 2019-20 season isn't even over yet. The draft hasn't happened, FA signings and trades are TBD. I know they can be fixed with a patch. But, I feel like they rushed this out.

and look at the reviews here. Overwhelmingly bad.

Yeah, it releasing with next season in flux was one of the reasons it was an easy pass and I just picked up a cheap copy of 2k20 instead.

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

Yeah I have 2K20 on the PS4, which I did buy in Fall 2019 and I guess I'll just continue to enjoy that for the time being. And yeah with the 2020-21 season uncertain, this was definitely a rush job to quickly cash in on 2K players who will buy it regardless.

Last I heard is that they are talking about possibly starting next season in January.

Did anyone pick this game up? Did they fix the shooting issues?

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

I have not. And if you look at the recent reviews on metacritic it's still a terrible game from their accounts.

Disappointing that 2K21 was a bust. I have to wonder if they will work on improving it for the PS5 and XBox X versions?

Considering we are less than 6 weeks from release and they still haven’t shown fuck-all, I think it is clear they are not exactly proud of what they are putting out for next gen.

You'll probably have to unlock Zion's sweat separately in a cash shop loot box.

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

Wow, those graphics are amazing. It looks like a real TV broadcast and being at the arena.

Now they just have to be sure they don't fuck up the shooting stick and make it unplayable like the current gen version.

However, I know I won't get a PS5 until sometime next year due to the extremely high demand right now.

re: NBA 2K21 (both generations)

Even with current gen, I always feel like the graphics in the videos never really matches when I'm playing the actual game. Maybe it's the camera angle or something (I use the 2k camera).

Regardless, considering we don't even know when the next season is supposed to start I can wait (I think).

Oh, you wanted to play as Zion? $$$

In all seriousness, NBA 2K (if they don't screw up the mechanics) is a perfectly fine game if you just want to play as existing teams. It's when you get to the card games and the my player stuff where it becomes really egregious. I still say there's no way I can differentiate what shoes a player is wearing when I'm actually playing the game, though maybe next gen fixes that.
