Scalpers are starting to cave. I found a listing for a Disc version PS5 buy it now listed at $600. Was very close to biting the bullet but the seller was in France and was a little suspicious. I found his history and he has 100 percent positive and has been on Ebay for six months. So I guess he was legit?

We found our PS5 and our XSX within two weeks of each other. I think the supply/demand curve is starting to meet.

They are still selling for almost $750 on StockX.

I think the lowest I've seen is $750.00 but yea, nothing has ever been that far down...still a lot out there over $1000.00 and I hope they're suffering and hurting for money...and I'd be extremely picky ..IF...I was even going to buy; heard too many horror stories of those ordering one only to get some box-of-nothing sent....I saw one with (6) Xbox Series and (6) PS5's all in one picture stacked...asking $1065.00 +$60 Shipping and located in Canada. They won't b selling those fast since a lot are already dropping to $800-$900 which is still too much. Let them sweat...

I was able to buy a ps5 and xsx (for a friend) within a little under 2 weeks of each other. The PS5 simply wasn't in stock an entire week.

When any stock on PS5's drops they don't even last a minute.....heck, a week ago Amazon did a surprised un-announced drop at Midnight...gone in a minute. Everyone trying for one are using "Trackers"...the bigger question is; are scalpers, groups, so-called "Sponsors" small outfits like you see all over Amazon and EBay still buying them because when you look at who are selling them, it's obvious not just individuals.....and some are seeing prices for some much highly touted Video Cards start to dip which is also a good indicator. I've come close a few times of either ordering a PC or getting parts to build one but the price on Video Cards has stopped me and I'll play the waiting game on PS5 and PC.

He sold 10 at $600. I guess he was desperate to sell or needed the money fast?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I’ve mentioned before, but for those still looking, I highly recommend checking target in their app on Thursday mornings. That when I finally got mine and it seems the Twitter trackers lag on announcing them compared to other retailers.

So, having played through Ratchet & Clank 3x, the Astro-Bot pack in and about half of the remastered Spider-Man, I feel like PS5 has a noticeable edge over Series X on graphics. I suppose it could be the games I’ve played, but those PS5 games have been prettier than any of the 8 or 9 games I’ve played on the X, though Resident Evil Village is close to being on the same level. It’s been a while since I played Spider-Man on PS4, but the remaster really feels like a big step forward in how good it looks.

Also, I can’t speak highly enough of the haptic feedback. It wasn’t even on my radar as a consideration, but Sony’s done something really cool with their controllers.

The Dualsense feedback is remarkable and really adds to the experience. Why MS didn't go that route this generation is baffling to me.
I suppose they could add it later this generation but that would really piss off anyone who spent $180 on an Elite 2 controller

Yeah, I think it's less "PS5 > Series X" so much as "games designed expressly for the new consoles > cross-gen". (And even though Spider-Man isn't a purely new-gen game, Insomniac are kind of in a league of their own.) The comparisons I've seen on Digital Foundry and the like of games on both the PS5 and Series X seem to be extremely close in quality overall. But since Sony has a nice slate of PS5-exclusive games and Microsoft hasn't released anything comparable for the Series S|X, the PS5 has more opportunities to really shine.

The DualSense could really make a difference for me when deciding what version of a game to get. Although I guess there are theoretically times when it'd turn me away :p; I've heard that the tension added to the triggers in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla make it tougher to lob out a flurry of arrows quickly. But I've really dug it in the games that take advantage, even the games I don't see talked about quite as much in that respect, like Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War (or however they handle the colons and dashes or whatever).

I have found the DualSense uncomfortable during very long play sessions, though. Like, having to put down the controller and shake my hands to be able to keep going. And I've already had to replace my pack-in controller, but hopefully that was a fluke.

I saw something about Microsoft sending out a survey to gauge interest in having a controller with similar features, but I don't know if/when anything will come of that. I'm not in a rush to buy yet another controller, especially since I had so many Xbox One controllers fail last gen.

I got hand numbness from it initially, that faded after another 20 hours of Returnal.

I find my thumb slipping off the Dualsense on the left thumb stick. Like in Rachet and Clank when you have to do the running parts with Clank. While it may be a better featured controller, it is nowhere near as comfortable as Xbox one IMHO

Also, Rachet and Clank (2015 one) is a hella fun platformer.

Is anyone else getting unreadable disc errors upon startup? About 75% of the time when I boot up my ps5, whatever disc is in there comes back as unreadable. I have to eject it and put it back in. Then it works. It’s happened on every game I’ve played.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Nothing like that on my end. Do you shut it down completely or go to standby? I always shut mine down and never use standby, mostly because I don’t want to see that fucking light.

Toddarino 07-07-21 03:51 AM

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I usually shut it down fully, unless my controller is totally dead.

I never get that *knock on wood*. And I always use standby for the record.

It still amazes me that to my knowledge they NEVER acknowledged the upside down PS1 thing as a problem.

Kinda looks better that way...

We have ours up on it's end due to space right now, but it actually looks better with the disc slot up like that.

There's thousands upon thousands of people trying at the same time to get these and Amazon, frankly, has the worst setup for it.

Best Buy does waves, so every 10 - 15 minutes they release more consoles - just have multiple browsers with multiple tabs open.
Sony's queue system favors those that are "invited" to buy a PS5, but otherwise also have multiple browser tabs open and be there before the queue actually starts.
GameStop does bundles, which are easier to get in on.
NewEgg does a lottery system, but also for bundles.
Target is probably the easiest one since it's local store pick-up only and at 7:40 AM EDT on the days they do it.
