Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
So none of the backwards compatibility rumours were true? Just the PS4 and apparently not even all of them?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I don't think any system has ever had 100% compatibility. There is always a few games with coding issues or which have been delisted.

I don't know what "rumors" you were listening to. It was always just PS4 games and almost all of them. Like 99.9% or so.
There was a lot of discussion on various sites about the PS5 doing almost full BC. I never got my hopes totally up but it still would have been nice for something besides just the previous generation. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
New Ratchet game makes me :( I can't find a PS5.
Is it possible to stand outside Best Buy or a Target and get one? I imagine with covid restrictions being lifted this will be allowed again? Maybe proof you have been fully vaccinated? |

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I thought retail stores were only selling them online. That would make camping for one impossible.
|
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Yeah, they only sell online. You can do in-store or curbside pick-up but you have to purchase it from the website to qualify.
Target is same-day pick-up. Best Buy is usually about 5 days in advance of the pick-up date (or was when I snagged a Series X for a friend). |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Ugh. This morning's firmware update broke my DualSense. It just shows up as "Wireless Controller" on the PS5 now (rather than "DUALSENSE") and is completely non-responsive. I can turn the console on, and when the screen goes idle, I can wake it up, but no button presses actually do anything.
So I guess I won't be playing Ratchet and Clank this week after all! |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Was it a system update or controller? I've been putting off a controller update for weeks.

Edit! And now it seems totally fine. Whatever. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I've been putting off controller updates for a few months, lol. I have no issue with it other than having to click notify me in 24 hours every time I start the system.
I wish controller updates weren't a thing or that they could be done wirelessly. I don't keep a USB-C cable plugged into my PS5 or anywhere in my living room. I could go into the bedroom and get one, but I really don't want to do that when I just sat down to play a game. |

Both. I’ve spent something like 2 hours running through everything I can think of, and sometimes it’ll play nicely for a couple of minutes but flakes out again. I can’t find any indication of literally anyone else experiencing this.
Edit! And now it seems totally fine. Whatever. |

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Follow Wario64 on Twitter and get in queue as soon as there is a drop on PS direct. Then, it's just luck of the draw where you will be placed in line. That is your best bet. Walmart and Best Buy websites are a shit show.

I've never had a controller update ever take up more than 30 seconds of my time.
1. Get up, walk to the bedroom, grab my cable from my phone charger, bring it to the living room, plug it in, plug the controller into it, update it, and then play the game or 2. Hit Notify me in 24 hours and play the game. The answer is almost always option 2. If I could update it wirelessly, I would hit the button to do so. |

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I always have a USB charger and USB C cable next to the PS5 so I can charge a controller or headphones when needed. They're not expensive, buy another maybe?
|
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Next gen laziness.
|
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I mean yeah. When I need one, I pick them up at Dollar Tree, but why should I leave extra cables lying in the middle of my AV system when bought a DualSense charging station so that I wouldn't need to?
|
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
 I buy more worthless gaming accessories than anyone I know, and still I never saw the point in buying a charging station. I just have a wall charger with a USB cable in the corner of the room. Easy-peasy.
