Destruction All-Stars is up now. I messed around with it for a few minutes. While it in no way looks like a retail game, let alone a $70 one, it does seem to be pretty fun. Much like Rocket League and Fall Guys it looks like a game which will have a solid online community and lots of activities and basically be one of those services that makes all their money selling cosmetic upgrades. It’s not amazing looking but it is sharp and with a solid frame rate from what I could see. The mechanics of hopping from car to car while dodging oncoming traffic is pretty clever and should make it different enough from other car combat games.

This is more of a PS4 thing than a PS5 one, bilut here is a 2020 wrap up that is comprehensive for the PS4 and cursory for the PS5. Also comes with a free PS4 dynamic theme.

My top game was Ghost of Tsushima at 85 hours and my top PS5 game was Miles Morales, unsurprisingly.

people had trouble getting Switches all year and they've been out for 2-3(?) years. when people are told to stay home, they gonna want to video game.

Yes it was up last night. Search Control and select the one without a PS4 icon. That's the PS5 upgrade

But it also says "will be" improved. Sort of implies it enhanced stuff wasn't live. I already bought the Xbox version so I will play it on there. Hopefully that is also live for the enhanced version.

I played the tutorial and one online match before uninstalling this. Definitely see that’s appeal as a super casual Fall Guys-like experience, though. There’s just nothing much there aside from smashing into other cars. The out of vehicle stuff is novel. Not at all what I’m looking for right now.

Were they really going to charge $70 for this? That’s...audacious.

Control looks and plays really nice on the PS5. I'd already played on the Xbox One, but this was significantly better. Also better in that this time I just sank all my ability points into Launch abilities, maxed it out and I was able to literally crush one of the bosses that took me an hour on my first playthrough.

My brother managed to score a ps5 from his wife’s, coworkers, neighbor’s uncle twice removed or something. I guess he just sits at home and keeps searching for them. Think he’s gotten four so far. I’m hoping he can find me one.

Multilaunch makes the game substantially easier (and more fun) and the shorter load times help.

Almost every launch console is sold at a loss. The PS3 & PS4 were also as was the Wii U. It usually isn't until further hardware revisions where they become cheaper to produce.

Well, Nintendo tries to make at least a little profit on consoles, but they have basically all their eggs in one basket so they are a lot more cautious. But yeah, sell at a loss, wait for technology to catch up and make them cheaper, and make a killing off of games and accessories. You think that even-harder-to-find battery charger costs anywhere near 30 bucks to make? :)

Finally got a bundle via Gamestop on 1/29.

Today I get a package via FedEx that is supposed to weigh 17lbs. It's in a small box where I can see that the shipping label has been cut off and taped from another box. The PS5 and one of the games are missing.

Called Gamestop and they said I had to wait for a 10-15 day investigation before they can refund or replace the missing items. Then called FedEx to complain.
