Even before bots, though, console launches were a crapshow. Bots definitely made the problem worse, but even mighty Amazon would buckle in years past.
I'm just glad I don't collect shoes. |

Wal-Mart isn't even loading. What a shit show. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Had it in my cart on Walmart.com. Was clicking on Delivery and it said "No longer in stock. We've saved it to your cart so you can get it when it is back in stock." I guess try again at 3. :(

At times like this I am glad I'm more focused on Xbox.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Fedex dropped off my Walmart preorder about a half hour ago. The setup has generally been smooth, although the Data Transfer bit (which is currently ongoing) was kind of annoying. It told me to hold the power button on my PS4 Pro down for a second until it beeps, but every time I did that, either nothing would happen, or my PS4 would turn off. But something like the fifth attempt, it did start working.
I haven't even played anything, but...ooooh, does that controller feel amazing in my hands! And I'm still not really sure where this behemoth is going to fit in my setup. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I picked up mine at 10 am at GameStop. They said they only had enough to fill the pre-orders and none to sell to the people hoping to buy one.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I got on just in time to add the PS5 to my cart then it started hanging while in the process of checking out. Eventually I got through to the shipping address and then got a pop up saying it was out of stock.
Fuck this. I'll wait until I can easily buy it online, even if that doesn't happen till after Christmas. These artificial shortages are such bullshit. I wish no one caved into the Ebay sellers and instead let them sit on their stock until they have no choice but to dump it at retail price. |

If you are PS= member, you don't even need the PS4 to transfer your data. You can transfer it via the could.

I was also in queue at Sony Direct since a few minutes before midnight though. I didn't even know that they were going to have any tonight, but Wario64 posted the link, and suggested getting in queue. Within a minute or two of giving up at Target, the chimes went off on my Sony Tab, and I was able to get through and place an order with free 1-2 business day shipping.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Does it use the same power cord as the 4/4 Pro?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Stayed up till midnight to check Target. No dice.
Stumbled upon Best Buy. Put it in my cart, already signed into my account with a credit card saved. They have to send me a "verification email". Took 10 minutes to receive the email so of course stock was gone by then. Got the bundle in my Costco cart and the payment screen kept erroring until all was sold out. Walmart had it in my cart and submitting payment by 12:02. Pop up tells me it has sold out. |

Two units delivered to my house this morning. No signature required despite what Sony said.

Cool, 8 more minutes until one of those Boston Dynamics robots pulls the PS5 out of my shopping cart and runs away with it.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I am pretty sure that this is actually the first console that I have ever bought on Launch Day. The PS2 generation was the first one that I bought for myself, and I was a poor kid just out of college at that time, everything before that was bought by my parents, at birthdays or Christmas. I have bought every PlayStation after that, but I have always had other expenses that prevented me from jumping in early. I am just doing really well financially for the first time in my life, and I decided to treat myself. Guess I should consider myself very lucky that I was able to get an order thru last night. I was prepared to camp out, but the pandemic killed all of that.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Second Walmart slot was an even worse shit show than noon.
Costco sent me an emailing reminding me I left something in my cart but of course wouldn't let me check out. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
My PS5 will come tomorrow from Walmart, but I won't be able to use it right away because somehow my media remote (from Best Buy) got "destroyed" in transit. :(
