Bethesda accidentally posted a trailer announcing Hi-Fi Rush for the PS5. Coming March 18th. More at Gematsu!

So for me, the PS5 announcement is my first real introduction to that IP.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
The tech demos and dev logs for HiFi Rush were amazing… and I’d like to play the game now that it’ll be on the PS5.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Updated Version....it seems like Sony is doing ok with some games being PC Ported and doing average on Steam, the ok semi success of Helldivers II and seems this might continue. A so-so video Pre-Review on "The Rise of Ronin" from Gaming Bolt. Might tie us over till guess what, that lackluster game, Ghost of Tsushima 2. |

Not sure what you have to try not to brag about. |

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
I’m sorry if I already asked this, but do PS4 games play better/faster load times if stored on SSD vs. external hard drive?

Adam Tyner’s response was not an invitation to push the envelop but a warning to evade any talk of “console warring” and with your “edit” that was a shot across the bow. As Adam said…

It's perfectly fine to be enthusiastic about a platform and a run of good news, but when you take it to this sort of cheerleading -- because, yes, you are absolutely trying to brag -- that veers into the sort of console warring we discourage on this forum.

I know it's faster to google the answer yourself rather than post questions like this on a passive forum.

If the game has been patched for PS5 it should have a better boost. I’ve only ever had the PS5’s internal drive and the SSD that I installed in it last fall. When I download games, I only get the PS5 version and plop it on the SSD, so I don’t have the expert knowledge to say “yea” or “nay” either way. |

Yep. Bloodborne definitely benefitted. A lot in spots, less in others.

It’s really fun and one of the most stylish, most unique games I’ve played in a long time. I can’t say I consistently nailed the rhythm timing, but it doesn’t really matter that much.

What would you compare it to, assuming it's not too niche a title? Is it like a rhythm-based take on the Devil May Cry action formula?
I love the visual style, the way music is woven into the gameplay is top notch ("Whirring" by The Joy Formidable is a longtime favorite, and the way it's incorporated into a climactic part of the game is especially brilliant), there's some really cleverly written dialogue, and I wound up becoming really attached to the characters and the relationships that form along the way. I was late to the party (didn't start playing it until just a couple months ago), but Hi-Fi Rush is one of the most memorable gaming experiences for me of the past few years. |

It's definitely in that vein; character action game-y, emphasis on combos, unlockable abilities, scored encounters, level design that encourages exploration, a good bit of platforming, and all that. FF16 is a good point of reference too, mostly in the way you're managing a lot of special ability cooldowns as time goes on. You're rewarded for attacking on-beat but not meaningfully penalized if you're not. (More accurately, you're always attacking on beat, but off-beat button presses don't do anything but break combos and slow down your progression a tiny bit.)

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Sony's laying off around 900 employees from PlayStation/Sony Interactive Entertainment: ~8% of the workforce. London Studio is being shuttered. Layoffs are hitting Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Guerilla, and Firesprite, among others. Every region is impacted. Some projects have been cancelled. (Hopefully not the next Ratchet and Clank game!) Jason Schreier reports that Firesprite's Twisted Metal live-service game has been axed.
Bleak, bleak news. The only real glimmer of light is that, at least for the moment, Media Molecule lives to fight another day, although I'm kind of bracing myself for the news that Sony is killing them too. |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
As long as this doesn’t stall the next installations of the Horizon game, Spider-Man game, and The Wolverine game, I think I’ll be OK.

Wow, four PS5 games? That is a first, I think.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Ooh, Sifu. Been wanting to play that one.
How does D2 work? Would this give you the full game up to Witch Queen content and only exclude you from whatever the newest expansion is? |
Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20
Sifu is a very cool game.
