Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

For those (like Slop already ) who need more storage, the highly rated
Samsung Electronics 980 PRO SSD with Heatsink 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 Internal Solid State Hard Drive, Heat Control, Max Speed, PS5 Compatible, MZ-V8P1T0CW
is on sale at Amazon for
$169.99 $169.99
, instead of its usual price of $249.99. That's a pretty good deal for a reliable expansion drive that's known to work and fit.
They also have a 2 TB drive for $299.99, saving $200.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Yeah, I just did Tsushima from the game menu rather than the PS-store. Seemed to work.
Like I said, seems like a different process of migrating saves for each game.
Still haven't yet played a proper game, just tooling around in old game I transferred and checking out the their PS5 version.
The one new thing I did "play" is the Radiohead Kid Amnesiac thing. It's a trip, and super cool. I was sober, but for the full experience, maybe get a little stoned and try it with big headphones (or loud surround sound).

I highly recommend the new 3D Pulse Wiress Headset. Totally worth the $99.99 price. They sound really good and are comfortable for long play sessions.

I'm pretty disappointed that the VR headset has a wire. I suspect it's for graphical fidelity... so I hope it delivers that in spades.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Got everything set up and transferred; simple process.

Couple questions though:
The controller, is it common to hear the mechanics inside when it vibrates? It's distracting, and I don't feel like it should be making any noise.

Are there really no folders or ability to group games together? On the PS4, I had a folder for the games the kids could play. They could change from game to game as they wished, without me needing to oversee what game they are choosing. The reason it's a folder on my profile, and not on a child specific folder, is I try out games ahead of time. I often play through unlocking aspects of the game for them. For example, I'll beat the racing game's levels to open up new courses. They don't really care about winning the race.

Yeah, no folders yet, not even in the new Beta, though now at least you can sort by Genre with that. Hopefully folders will come in a future Beta, as they did midway through the PS4 lifecycle.

Yeah it's a single wire, plug and play, so hopefully it's not such a big deal. Can't imagine it would be possible to do that wirelessly yet.

When PS VR2 launches, it’ll take a giant leap forward in the way we play games in virtual reality. There are plenty of exciting new features to look forward to in the PS VR2 system, including stunning visual fidelity in 4K HDR and state-of-art graphical rendering, enhanced tracking such as inside-out camera tracking, new PlayStation VR2 Sense Technology features such as headset feedback, and the new, intuitive PS VR2 Sense controller that creates an incredibly deep feeling of immersion. Additionally, the PS VR2 system comes in a simple, single cord set up so you can connect to your games immediately. PS VR2 development kits are already in the hands of game creators, and we are excited for what they’ll come up with to truly make virtual reality a remarkable experience for gamers. We look forward to sharing more details with you about PS VR2. Stay tuned!

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The single wire plug-in is a sigh of relief. That in addition to the VR2 apparently not needing a PS Camera like the previous model is great news.

If I upgrade to the VR2, I'll probably gift my VR1 to one of my friends and his kids.

Thanks - I was wondering about those.
Would you recommend the charging station for the controller?

It's a nice luxury. Absolutely not needed as you can just plug one into a wall charger when not in use. But I have a charging station and have to admit it's nice to have and very convenient.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I'll echo what Decker said. Even though my couch has USB ports in the center console (which I use for Switch and Xbox controllers and have for my PS4 controllers in the past), the charger is a nice, if inessential convenience. Helps keep things organized, especially if you have multiple DualSenses. There's a satisfying 'click!' when the controller plops in.

Yep, not needed at all, but is a nice convenience to just plop it on the charger rather than fiddling around with the cord when you have to charge it every two fucking hours.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

If they made a dual sense controller that held a charge for 40 hours, I would pay 100 dollars for it. I hate having to charge my controller after every gaming session.

I'm taking your word for it and ordering a pair (mostly for the easy connection to the PS5), but they have some brutal reviews on amazon.

It's not an audiophile headset, but it does sound good for games, works well for surround (if not quite 3D as advertised) and the chat microphone is excellent. And yeah it's plug and play. Has a good battery life as well.
What is the complaint?
Edit : The reviews are far and away very positive. It's just the few negative ones that got all the attention, are labeled "Helpful" and bumped to the front. What bullshit.

Yeah, the most negative reviews were also the most "helpful".
They're probably from manufacturers of competing headsets.

That Ghost of Tsushima thing isn't even a game, it's a game mode, made stand-alone. Not at all familiar with Ghost Runner.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Isn't that the same thing they did with Godfall or whatever it was? Where the freebie version was just one of the game modes but not the full game?
Kind of a shitty trend... And not of much value to new (or old) PS+ members.

Then again... Volgaar.

Godfall was different. The PS4 version was part of PSN+ monthly free games but then it wasn't valid to get the PS5 upgrade for free. They locked the free upgrade to people who paid for the PS4 version.

I thought that was what they did with FF7. Hmmm...

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

Could have been but it was Godfall as well. I was excited to start it when I heard about the upgrade, only to be disappointed that I couldn't get the upgrade without paying for it.

You are correct. I was confusing Godfall with Greedfall apparently.
