Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

Because it's a glorified rental service where you get to demo games before you buy them?

Is there a way to know when games are leaving? A list somewhere?

Follow Game Pass on Twitter.
They let people know which are leaving at the end of the month about two weeks in advance. That's it. I tend to only play MS published games because they are the only ones that I know will stick around.

No it's not.
It was a PS4 exclusive for a year.

Damn Microsoft. I didn't pay attention to my end date and got auto renewed for $44. I was hoping to at least play Gears Tactics, but just discovered that it only released for PC.

For those who haven’t checked it out, Journey to the Savage Planet is pretty solid. It wasn’t on my radar at all, but I saw something basically calling it a Metroid Prime game with a sense of humor, so I gave it a shot. Glad that I did.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

I was going through the available games the other day and watching a few trailers and saw an interesting one called "Deliver Us The Moon." I downloaded it and plan to try it out but was curious if anyone here has played it.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

Played the first level of SoR4. It felt just like playing SoR2. I hope the remainder is a little different - but not too different.

Do any GamePass games share saves? That is, if I play on Xbox or PC while logged in to my profile, I can progress in the same saved game? I downloaded Slay the Spire on PC but I'm not going to start over, but if I could progress in my saved game from console, I'd play it there too. From what I've read, that's sort of what MS is pushing for with XCloud?

I'll definitely play FFIX again, although I really want an upgrade to FFT.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

Wow -- I was going to get this for the Switch.

And here are the games for July 2020.

Lastly, all the games shown during today's Xbox Games Showcase will be available on Game Pass.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

If folks haven't played The Touryst elsewhere, I recommend giving it a shot on Game Pass. Digital Foundry did a follow-up video on it, since it's a bit of an improvement over the original Switch release.

On PC (not Game Pass enabled as far as I know) the game actually renders at 8K then downscales to 4K (if you have a 4K monitor). On Xbox, it just plays at native 4K.

Also, upcoming games on Game Pass:

Darksiders: Genesis (Console) - Aug 6
It Lurks Below (Console & PC) - Aug 6
Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (Console) - Aug 6 <- I remember reading that this was a huge disappointment, but I'll give it a shot because of how much I loved Until Dawn on PS4.
Trailmakers (Console & PC) - Aug 6
UnderMine (Console & PC) - Aug 6
Xeno Crisis (Console & PC) - Aug 6
Final Fantasy VII HD (Console & PC) - Aug 13 <- this is NOT the remake... just the "HD" release from years ago.

Leaving Aug 14:
Devil May Cry 5 (Console)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (Console & PC)
Space Hulk: Tactics (PC)
Where the Water Tastes Like Wine (PC)
Yuku's Island Express (Console & PC)

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

I tried Grounded (Beta) on XO Game Pass. Maybe it's me, but that game did NOT feel ready for prime time. I like the idea of surviving as a smaller than ant sized person in the backyard, but it was clunky and unintuitive.

Agreed. I played around with it for about an hour but didn’t really enjoy it or even understand what I was supposed to be doing. I guess that’s the great thing about game pass, I probably would have just bought it otherwise. Glad to see Man of Medan is coming. I almost bought it at release but read it was pretty short and had some issues. I preloaded Gears Tactics and Battletoads the other day so hopefully they’ll be released soon too.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

Red Dead didn’t stick around to long. With the length of that game I’m sure there will be a lot of people upset because they are no where close to finishing it.
Im looking forward to Tell Me Why and Battletoads. Although if Battletoads is anything like the 8bit original I’m not sure I’ll have the patience required to play it very long.

Reviews are all over the place. I've seen a couple that make it sound as if it's a lot more manageable, with very frequent checkpoints, and co-op offers lots of opportunities for revivals. There's also a difficulty setting, which I can't remember if the original had or not. (I definitely remember finishing the game as a kid, although I can't recall how much of that was owed to the Game Genie.) Apparently it's just a few hours long too.

I am damn curious about Flight Simulator for some reason, so I’ll definitely be installing that one soon.

Why that game won't launch on the Xbox One Series X is totally beyond me. That is the type of offering that could actually move new consoles.
My desktop computer isn't powerful enough to run the game smoothly

Even top of the line systems can barely run the game. It is basically made for future graphics cards.

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

Agreed - and it might even bring some people in who maybe haven't gotten a console in a while, who enjoyed previous iterations of Flight Sim. It's possible that they have megaPCs, but it would be worth pursuing that market.
No way in heck my PC will even think about it, much less run it.

The Touryst was quite a bit of fun. Not too much challenge, but very charming. I was able to 100% it in about 4-5 hours.

I see Wasteland 3 is getting fairly good reviews. Never played the series. Tactical action RPG right? Probably will try it out. Thanks Gamepass!

They're also showing New Super Lucky's Tale, but that was on GP ages ago. Did it go away and then come back?

Re: Xbox Game Pass/Game Pass Ultimate

^ I thought it was the regular old Super Lucky's Tale that was on GP before. "New" Super Lucky's Tale seems to be a new title released this month.
edit: yeah, SLT came out 11/7/2017. NSLT came out 8/21/2020
