I don't know if it's common knowledge but:

Spoiler:
I found a secret photo mission that unlocks a new Spidey costume. There's 50 places/things that Peter needs to photograph to unlock the ESU costumed Spidey. Found this by chance while taking a photo of Uncle Ben's grave

Oh, wow! If that's common knowledge, I guess I hadn't been in the loop.

Some of the main story missions are cliched and an annoyance, and the overall story line is really predictable. I felt like the experience in God of War was more impressive.
I got the platinum on Friday, after just under a week of aggressive play. I feel pretty much the same way, and I'll admit to being let down by the boss battles, which were strikingly cinematic but felt awfully same-y in terms of mechanics. Dodge, throw/web, swoop in for a flurry of punches, repeat. I didn't experiment with most of the additional abilities unlocked with suits; most of them just really didn't look all that compelling. At the same time, the game is ridiculously gorgeous, it's a labor of love by people who live and breathe Spider-Man as much as I do, and I think they did a commendable job remixing different elements and eras of Spidey-Lore into its own thing.

At least until some of the heavy hitters over the next couple months come out, Spider-Man is still my second favorite game of the year, behind only God of War (though not nearly in that same league).

Here's a walkthrough of that secret mission/quest

As for the boss battles, I wish the battles were more like

Spoiler:
The Taskmaster or Tombstone ones

than the ones we got in the main story.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I have been playing this game the past few days and as everyone has stated, this game is gorgeous. I really don't mind just swinging around the city as you really immersed yourself in it. The Controls are very familiar to me with the mix of Arkham, Just Cause 3 and even Mad Max thrown in.

The one aspect of the game that I already detest is the chasing the pigeons, bad guys or cars around the city. Trying to get close enough to the control icon to appear (either L1+R1 or Triangle) is very annoying. Maybe I'm not swinging correctly yet or don't have a certain upgrade...

Getting that long range vault using X upgrade makes tracking those guys down a heck of a lot easier.

I'm about half way done. I love it.
My 12 yr old son played the game on his own account and already finished it. He now watches me struggle to complete certain missions and shakes his head and condescends about how he remember beating that part.

It's harder to do it when they're adults... mainly because they have a much better grasp of your actual net worth.

This is a game that I can not put down, I'm completely hooked. That rarely happens to me nowadays, even with God of War.

I feel the same way; a lot of it (besides being a great game) is the IP itself, but it also helps that, besides some language, I can play it in front of my kids.

Yeah, despite some complaints the game is damn fun and addictive.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I'm not sure if it was a bug or if it was intentional but after I got my ass kicked by the Six at the Raft I lost three skills and their corresponding skill points and a few gadget upgrades.

I'm not certain I'll be able to max out the skill tree at 50 still based on what's left. Sorta frustrating.

Did not happen to me at all, that's really odd.

Just beat this last night and felt very satisfied. Level 50 and maxed out most thing. Have probably an hour two to put in to get more stuff.

The Platinum for this is pretty easy, and most of the trophies are fun to get.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

Well, this is by far the best Spider-Man game ever made. The city is impressive, the web swinging is fun, I liked the combat and the gadgets(seriously, webbing guys to walls never got old), and you can tell this was a definite labor of love for the makers. I was also surprised how much I liked the new costume. I almost kept it exclusively on even with my beloved 2099 and classic costumes always tempting me.

But the biggest negative is it does so many things that hold it back that it still can't compare to the first two Arkham games. The parts were you had to play as other characters in stealth was annoying, I despised the mini games where you were fixing circuits, and found Harry's challenges more annoying than fun. I also thought the backpacks were a waste. I would have rather collected comic pages and read classic Spiderman comics(like the Amazing games) as opposed to stupid things like Peter's Bugle ID. I also thought it was frustrating that you weren't always sure which side quests would relate to other villains and which ones would not.

Overall I would probably give it an 8.5/10. This is a great and impressive game, but it doesn't reach the highest highs of the first two Arkham games.

Actually I enjoyed exploring a fairly accurately recreated Manhattan far more than I did going from room to another same-y room in Arkham Asylum.

I showed my son what MY first Spider-Man game was like when I was his age :

We've come a long way.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

The Spidey swinging is what differentiates the game (and the character) for me, though. They've been doing a good job since the first Sony titles, but the feel of swinging around the skyscrapers just adds a lot to the game, especially an open world game where traversing the map is like the most tedious part.

You'd think technology has progressed enough where they could really capture the feel of flying around and making a Superman game.

Re: Spider-Man (Insomniac Games) PS4 (9/7/18)

I haven't played much - couple hours, tops, and it's just not grabbing me... I have little to no desire to get back to it.

I'll give it more time, but I assumed I'd love it right away, as I have with almost all other Insomniac games.

Honestly one of the best games I've played. Ive never been one to go around and collect all the stuff in a game like this, but I am now.

I am loving it - I'm stretching out the story and clearing all of the extras as I go. Just got the Iron Spider suit which is my favorite so far. Top to bottom, it's fantastic. Even the stealth sections are pretty short and usually have something interesting in them.

Fantastic game.

This site’s recent “Checking your browser before letting you enter” shit reminds me of Sable’s troops in this game.
