I am sure i read something that said its a download with the Season Pass prior to its release this summer. I am gonna try and pick up the Gold Edition of this today anyway, but i always prefer to have a physical copy of the game (i do have it for PS3, so i guess it will do).

I went ahead and ordered the digital version...Deluxe off PS Store. I saw enough in the videos and trailers that I think this will be a fun ride with all the characters, flying, four-wheeling, boating, wildlife, pet Dog and pet Bear....and who wouldn't want to ride a Farm Tractor thru a filed and just mow bad guys up into pieces.... The deluxe came with a fair amount of goodies.....

I picked up a copy of the Gold Edition today. Look on the back cover near the middle, it clearly shows a free download of FC3.
I played the game for about an hour and it was fine. Didn't pull me in from the get go, but that's usually the case with most games. Seems very similar to the rest of the games in the series, but that's fine with me as I have loved them all.
I am on vacation for the next 5 days, so gonna pump some serious time into it.

I was watching a video off a game site...maybe Gamespot...and they were showing everything you can do in co-op. One was you or your friend can fly the copter and the other can actually grapple to it and be flown to wherever. One can fly and one can shoot rockets. One can provide Air Support while other is on ground.
Planes are a few variations but mostly built around two; a Hydroplane and one that has a bit of WWII with both having different options and paint schemes. And of course a Copter...and land it's about everything, small cars, medium cars, fast cars, muscle cars, about 50 different Pickup Trucks, Farm Tractors including one with a grinder on the front.....small 4-wheelers, off road, Jeeps, 4x4's and Tractor Rigs.....

Another question... for those that got the Gold version - is the version of FC3 that's on there the exact same as it was on the PS3/360, or is it upgraded for current-gen consoles?

The press release said "An updated version" whatever that means. Don't think it is available day one.

Played for around 35 minutes or so... the open is intense. Great stuff. When I actually played it felt like old FC stuff -- so that's good too.
I have been reading reviews that are all over the place so I think you either love the FC formula or you don't --- I always have.
Also, to my dismay, there is crafting; it may be to a lesser degree but I noticed you can harvest plants. Ugh. I'm glad to hear you can rain hell from the skies as the gyro-copter was the single best add to any game ever, IMO.

I stayed up waaaaay too late on this but like any FC game it's fun, full of laughs, intense, surprises everywhere (that be wildlife) that has you always going to explore and see what's next...
Graphically....it's simply outstanding. FC4 looked darn good with the vibrant colors and landscape. Then Ghost Recon happened and I didn't thing the Landscape & Foliage could top that...wrong. I've seen details in some games that really stood out but here it's the density & micro details that are superb......and that goes with items, structures, household, vehicles....they really upped it here.
World Map...huge upgrade and far easier to see with it being 2D with tilt & pan added so you have a good vision of the depth of the terrain. Everything is a smoke gray color and as you open it up colors appear. Main points will show more details.
The Copter....if only Ghost Recon had one this easy to fly. This is "Plug & Play"....have not got in on the Hydroplane yet.
Vehicles....Pickup are galore in FC5 since that's what the majority of the Bad guys drive. But....I drove a Semi-Truck, 4-wheeler, Pickup, car and of course a Farm Tractor. With the semi-Truck I took out 2-3 pickups blocking a bridge sending one over the edge into the river....that's a bad-as* to drive.
Wildlife...typical FC game with Bears, Mountain Lions, Wild Turkeys that do attack, Skunks that spray, wild dogs and Deer bouncing all over the place...and there are Bass Fish jumping....
AI & Hired Help....I do like the way yoi have a bit more to help and work with as you save some, they become available to help for hire. There's a good list of the NP that can help and each with their specialty. I only got "Boomer" the Dog...and there's a reason why he's called Boomer...because he lowers the Boom on the bad guys, Bears, Turkeys or whatever. He's one cool dog and they made it easy for these Guns & Fangs to jump in combat.
Guns...what FC would be without Guns...so far what you expect even though I haven't come close with just getting the Handgun, some normal semi-rifle and the Box....and the Bow is pretty good especially when you wan tot go silent with decent range....and there's the Bats & Pipes also and later you can get the typical FC assortment
Story...too early to tell but one of the best intro's in any game I've seen. Even before you jump in and really play, you really hate these guys and want to wipe them out....sort of like in FC4 where it's just mean & evil, they're off the charts. It will be interesting as you go into the three different zones; each apparently having it's on evil ways to deal with........good ride so far with no regrets....

Played maybe 4 hours--LOVE it. One of the coolest things about any FC game is that anything can happen at any time, and that definitely continues. The crafting is there but pretty minimal, and frankly it's nice being able to make a couple more molotov cocktails on the fly instead of shopping for them.
There is just SO much to do, and I've been all over. Earning perks is pretty easy, and I started almost right away with the parachute and wing suit, because I love jumping out of planes.
After my first outpost capture I got a few more people I could add to my roster (to help in your battles). Funny thing: at the end of the capture you have to free 3 prisoners, and then you can add them. I freed the first two, was just freeing the third, when two fighting grizzly bears came in and killed her. Didn't see that coming.
It's really quite awesome.

Spent a few hours on it now. Its a solid game and I have been having fun. Taken down a number of places and recaptures, saved a number of people, flown around on the helicopter and blown shit up, including a giant statue. Even had a go at fishing and managed to catch a 30lber on my first try.
The enemies do tend to appear lot, even just going around back roads. When taking on a base there is a set amount you have to kill to capture it, unless you give yourself away and they call reinforcements.
The driving controls are similar to earlier games in the series and take a little getting used to. I would recommend setting the driving to Shooter in options as its easier that way to drive and shoot at the same time.
I do like the randomness of things. At one point I jumped out of a plane, it crashed in front of a truck and the truck hit something and exploded.

I've only got the Dog Boomer so far but the others on the list look like they can help offset the fast spawn of enemies. And besides Boomer you can also get "Peaches" the mountain lion and "Cheeseburger" the 600lb Grizzly. There's Nick Rye who is the pilot of the Hydroplane who shoots and drops bombs. Jess a expert at the Bow and Hurk who is Mr. RPG. I just can't wait to unlock them and see what they do.

The Verdict
Far Cry 5 is another wide-open playground with all the necessary ingredients for causing a real ruckus: loads of enemies and allies, temperamental wildlife, and plenty of explosions. Amidst all the insanity it manages to tell a serious story with respectable characters and a powerful ending, though it’s not the most memorable in the series. The successful transition from exotic locales to America’s backyard makes me excited to see where the Far Cry formula goes next.

As the above image shows, Season Pass holders get four weeks of early access to the game, meaning that they'll be able to play it on May 29th. Those who don't own the season pass will be able to purchase the game separately on June 26th.

Right now I spend 75% just walking & running because I'm finding single houses off the road that have goodies and I just like the exploring aspect...and no matter where i go there is something going on on the Road or slightly off it...freeing captives or the Traveling Shopkeepers. It's funny when talking to them, some Bad Guys will drive by and they'll start cursing them and pull out their gun and start firing...and they always have a Dog to.....
I'm still in the Holland Area and and after taking down another Cultist Outpost I finally got "Marked" which apparently is like being added to The FBI's Most Wanted....same area I was watching the Cultist beat up some dude and one got in the Farm Tractor with the front "Meat Grinder"...shot him but I couldn't find anyone to run over....did see a Bear and Bull get into it...Bull lost....
I have not gone to sites or articles on "How to get______".....this game like others....I played FC4....is best to just go out and explore because something, somewhere, somehow, someone will happen. And every corn field, pumpkin patch, Home, Barn or Cows you come across another one is right behind the corner....along with more Locals you free who join your side. It was that way in FC4 but it just seems more....personal, more involved and more NP's actually doing something. In FC4 I felt basically alone doing it all...here it's a bit more "We and Not Me" which I find really refreshing....
...and Gamespot officially finished the Review In Progress.....9.0 of 10
