Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Love this game - so far I have no problems with the story either. Wasn't expecting the world to be as fleshed out as it is as well - you really feel like you're in an actual town(s).

Very happy to see the driving has improved big time (been waiting for that) and that you can hop into any vehicle you see - long overdue.

Fun game so far.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Funny you mention the driving... I have an Xbox 1 Elite Controller and it STILL doesn't work when driving (which was a known bug of the original game). I have to use alternate driving controls which really messes with looking around and aiming, etc.

Rival are you playing FC5 or New Dawn? We are talking about both in this thread.

Oh, my bad - I'm talking about Far Cry 5 - I will be picking up New Dawn when I'm done with 5 as well.

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

Wow, this game is like the fun version of red dead redemption 2. Always something to do and never gets stale. This game is beautiful to look at as well.

Can someone please confirm a couple of things for me (if possible, please just answer the questions as is with no additonal info...to save me from any spoilers):

Spoiler:
1. When you beat the game, does the entire world get nuked by one of the cult leaders or does it remain in-tact for you to enjoy? 2. Does it matter what order you do each cult leaders region in? meaning if I take out Jacob's region does it end the game?

Re: Far Cry 5 - 3/27/18

You can tackle the order of the Lieutenants in any sequence. They direct you to go do John Seed's area first, which makes sense since it's the easiest one. But you can tackle them in any order you like. You can clean one out entirely or skip around. Doesn't matter. But you do get a cool reward for defeating each one so it probably makes sense to tackle them one at a time (as you get closer to being able to fight one, the attacks in their region become more aggressive). You can't get at Joseph until you have defeated all three (John, Faith, Jacob -- and that's the order I defeated them).

Regarding the ending :
Spoiler:
After the nuke, the game looks the same, though you hear more broadcasts of world turmoil on radios. You get a nuked-out image on the loading screen, but no other real indication of nuclear Apocalypse in the game world. New Dawn on the other hand....

As someone who loved IV but didn't care for V will I like New Dawn? It's on sale at BB for $15.

If you didn't care for V, it's hard to imagine New Dawn will change your mind. It's more of the same... which is a good thing to me.

I don't know why I loved IV a lot but 5 just didn't work for me. More of THAT would be a welcome thing.

You are describing me as well (loved 4, tolerated 5). The answer is “yes”. New Dawn is more focused, more adventurous, and a hell of a lot more fun.

Surprised to see the dislike for 5, for me it's the best game this console generation.

What's the verdict on the DLC for Far Cry 5? It's currently 1/2 off with the Xbox E3 sale. Is it worth $15?

Hmmm. Maybe? Probably not though. Doesn't advance the story at all. The first Vietnam one is pretty cool. Smaller but substantial map, permadeath It's pretty intense. The Mars one isn't great but is kinda funny. I didn't enjoy it and didn't finish it. It does give you some awesome weapons that make you super overpowered in the main game though. The Zombie one is just a few horde levels. Not much there at all. You would be much better off getting New Dawn for $20 instead.

Thanks for the reply. I have New Dawn but was hoping for some more Far Cry. Sounds like the DLC isn't worth it even on sale.

Well the season pass does come with FAR CRY 3 remastered... I'm thinking of buying it, so I can finally play FC5, then NEW DAWN.

Thanks. That settled it for me. I needed to replace my disc version of Far Cry 3 which is now on sale for the same price as the season pass. Might as well buy the pass for $15 and consider the DLC an added bonus.

Having fun with New Dawn. One thing for sure is the game is just flipping gorgeous on my Pro. It's beautiful.

Yes, easily the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time. There is always something to do and the game is just beautiful to look at.

With lines lines like "Punch it Chewy!!, ha, ya liked that didnt ya....ya fucking nerd" and "Those stashes at the top of the mountain have me worried, the only stashes I like are the kind you can sit on" what's not to love - that's just some of the hilarity from the ton of dialogue in the game.

A Grissly bear companion names cheeseburger that has diabeetus, never gets old.

I take back what I said about the driving, it still sucks, I only played a little previous to posting that.

I took out Jacob second because his dream sequences were super annoying. Can't wait to play new dawn as well.
