Persona 5 (PS4) - 4/4/17

Re: Persona 5 (PS4) - 4/4/17
So I finished this up today. It was fantastic. My first Persona game although I had played Shin Megami Tensei IV on the 3DS. I like this much better.
I finished at around 80 hours. The last two palaces were kind of easy because I
The characters were great. I won't be playing Royal but I am definitely getting Strikers to spend some more time with them. Apparently is is quite a bit more linear and only around 40 hours or so with a good story.

Strikers is a lot of fun. Takes a bit to get used to the combat style. It feels like Hack & Slash, but its really not. if you don't adapt to that quickly you'll have trouble. I'm in Post-Game now at about 50 hours, deciding if I have the stamina to grind out the Platinum.

Re: Persona 5 (PS4) - 4/4/17
I played this for 50 hours last year and I took a break. I just started it back up and I'm at 90 hours played. I absolutely love this game. It's probably the best turn based RPG that I've ever played. The music in the game is fantastic. I just wish it wasn't so long. Games these days take way too long to play and I get burnt out after 40-50 hours. I hope I'm getting close to the end. I have the Royal edition and will probably play that after I finished the regular edition and take a long break.

My son pointed out to me that all Persona 5 DLC is now free in the Playstation Store. I assume it's the same on Xbox as well.

"I think it’s because the ps5/switch/Xbox versions of Persona 5 Royal all have this DLC free and they didn’t want ps4 owners feeling left out." Here's what was mentioned on CAG so this is just PS4 version since already included on all other versions.

There isn't a PS5 version of the game, only PS4.

Edit ; There it is on the PS5. Didn't see it in the online store.
So no upgrade? Gotta buy it again?

No upgrade, alas, and no path for migrating saves. If you want the PS5 version, you have to buy a separate version and lose any progress. IIRC, the only real difference is that the PS5 version is 60fps while it’s 30fps on the PS4. (Plus it has the Royale changes and all DLC included.)
I’ve owned it on the PS4 and PS5 but haven’t played either version, so I can’t speak firsthand.

Re: Persona 5 (PS4) - 4/4/17
Okay digging in further : I have discovered that this PS5 version of P5R has a better frame rate than the PS4 version of P5R and all the DLC and very slightly better graphics. There is no way to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 version and inexplicably no way to transfer your save from the PS4 to PS5 version of the game. That made the PS5 version pretty useless to anyone who had the PS4 version of the game(which was for most the second time they had bought the game anyway). What an idiotic solution to bring a game to “Next-Gen”.
Anyway, giving away all the DLC for free (better late than never) means that there really isn’t any reason for anyone to upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5 one (it’s not the kind of game that needs 60 FPS). That’s fine. But it should have been a free (or $10) upgrade with a transferable game save.
Edit : While I was typing that, Adam confirmed what I was typing. Yeah, no reason to upgrade. Really weird marketing there.
