@NintendoAmerica (on Twitter): Play #ARMS this Saturday, July 8 at select GameStop stores from 12pm-3pm and receive a free pair of ARMS sleeves. arms.nintendo.com
Here's a pic of the "sleeves" (which I think look sweet!):

There’s an NES emulator hidden inside the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch is hiding an NES emulator within its sleek and colorful frame.
A group of homebrewers plumbing the depths of the Nintendo Switch’s firmware recently stumbled across an interesting emulator system application installed on every Switch.
As detailed on the SwitchBrew wiki, there’s an NES emulator—referred to as “flog” in the firmware notes—that’s likely been hiding on the Switch ever since launch.
As far as the homebrewing community could find, this NES emulator isn’t used by anything on the Switch so far. However, it has many of the same capabilities as the now-sold-out NES Classic Edition.
So, what’s the purpose of this emulator? Nintendo hasn’t revealed anything about bringing the Virtual Console system to the Switch, but we know that Nintendo’s planned online subscription feature will offer subscribers access to a selection of classic games.
Additionally, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé recently recognized fans’ “appetite” for legacy content. It seems likely that this emulator will be used to play such classic content, whenever Nintendo decides to make it available.
Nintendo plans to begin launching the Switch’s online services for free this July, with a more complete paid package arriving in 2018.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I took forever to decide which case I wanted, but I wound up going with the regular ol' soft case that was available at launch.
The biggest selling point for me was the built-in stand. I feel more comfortable using that than the kickstand in the Switch itself. Its maiden voyage on a plane is less than 2 months away! My wife and I will hopefully be passing the time playing Mario + Rabbids (or, well, she'll play and I'll make unhelpful suggestions).

Splatoon 2 reviews are up. 84 on MetaCritic as I write this; 83 on OpenCritic.

Ouch.
Switching apps disables voice chat. Locking your phone disables voice chat; the screen has to be active the entire time, gobbling up battery life. Voice chat cuts out if you get a notification. There's no party chat equivalent; if your friend is playing ARMS and you're playing Splatoon 2 (or not playing at all!), you're SOL. I'm reading conflicting things about how necessary the app is for sending invitations to private lobbies.

Does anyone know if and when Nintendo is going to get more of these to retailers? I've been looking for one for three months for my daughter for Christmas and have came up empty.
I'm not going to pay GameStop's prices for their bundles because it seems that's all they care about selling. I was at a Wal-Mart yesterday and the guy in electronics said they haven't received any in a couple of months.

This week Best Buy is selling them on Friday. I have ran across them sitting on the self randomly at Target in the past week also.

They seem to be the most available with a major software release, so hopefully you'll have some luck this Friday with Splatoon 2. Just be sure to get in line early.

Gamestop should have gotten a shipment in today or later this week as well, it's part of their ad that came out today for $299. I was at Target yesterday and they had some in stock as well.

All the gear that Amiibo unlock in Splatoon 2.
Callie and Marie return messages that basically say "check back later!". Maybe that's part of a day one patch, maybe Hero Mode has to be completed first...dunno. Someone on Reddit said that the reveal is embargoed until tomorrow.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Got one today with the neon joycons and a pro controller. Will borrow Zelda from my brother and am in the process of downloading Mario kart 8 for the kids.
The download started great and stalled around 30%. My bad, kids will have to wait until tonight to play, haha.
Console seems nice, pro controller is hefty. When you put the switch in the dock it doesn't feel like it clicks in at all...I feel like if I breath on it, it will lose the dock connection. Is it normal to feel so loose?

It's just a USB-C plug, so really no different from your phone being plugged in to a charger. But once it's in, there's nothing to worry about unless for some reason it's on an unstable surface or you're moving the dock+switch around while on for some reason.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I guess I was just expecting more feedback that its in. But it works.
You guys use a screen protector? Not worried about me but maybe the kids....
I also got a 64GB SD card. They seem best bang for the buck at the moment and the game files aren't too crazy big. Mario Kart is 8GB.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I bought a screen protector because of the dock scratching stories. I seen a little rubbing at the leftmost bottom of the screen so decided it was for the best.
In researching which screen protector was the best, I also found stories that the PDP one left residue when removed, so I hunted down a Hori protector.

Thanks. I'll probably wrap a small piece of felt or something around the front of the dock after hearing those stories as well.

The Hori "premium" screen protector actually had reports of peeling off, apparently if not allowed to settle in before using it in the dock (since it gets hot).
I got the tempered glass am film ones and they're pretty great... easy to put on, no issues.
