I do that all the time with everything. I love number crunching and get as much satisfaction out of that as I do doing the activity that generated the numbers. In college at the beginning of the semester I'd time myself reading a textbook page for comprehension and then break down all chapters by estimated reading time.
My Switch excel sheet. Gamefly rentals add hours to total but not cost. I'm also amortizing the cost of the system into the total cost per hour.

I bought my son the second Smash Bros Fighter Pass after the Steve from Minecraft DLC was announced. He was so excited on Tuesday evening to try it out. I may have never seen him happier -- like ever. I never play the game but it was totally worth the DLC purchase price for him to get this. He loves the character and how he has been integrated into the game.

How do you bill the minutes you spend tracking your time and filling out that spreadsheet, though?

I don’t track time per game, but I’ll admit to keeping categorized spreadsheets of every dollar I spend (Grocery, Eating Out, House, Recurring Bills, Movies, Video Games, Gifts, Misc.).
The intent was to get a sense of how much I spend on things every month. Instead, I just enter the numbers and rarely look at them, only referencing the spreadsheet when my wife and I are, like, “when was the last time we ate at that restaurant?”

Well it's the gift that keeps on giving, nurikabe and two Picrosses went on sale for lowest ever and I bit for half off, but I bought them with digital credit that itself was 20 percent off. $6.93 for all three. Nurikabe has 120 puzzles and I'm estimating at least 20 hours based on the first couple of puzzles which are the easiest.
What I liked about them is that the Picrosses have tons of dlc including really large puzzles. I got one with the biggest puzzles and 25x35 took me 35 minutes for one puzzle, biggest I've ever done and color, the dlc was 2.99 and includes 15 puzzles at 25x35 and 15 puzzles at 30 by 20. I didn't realize until I did that puzzle with NO issues how badly done Depixtion is, and that's only 24x24.
I had trouble with the first fight for Fire Emblem TH but I think I'm supposed to lose that battle so that I can have the flashback about no dying and then the reinforcements come in. I'm 30 minutes into it and I don't know if I like it yet I'm walking around the monastery.

I kind of gave up on fire emblem after the GBA. I don't like permadeath. Makes me reset the whole level after losing one unit. That kind of got old fast.
I REALLY wish they would resurrect the Advance Wars series.

I don't understand how an Advance Wars game (even a compilation of the games) has not come out on the Switch. An amazing series that would be perfect for the Switch. It has a big following too so I think the demand is there.

^ How did we not get a Luigi's Mansion on Wii when you're literally holding a wand? How did we not get a Metroid on WiiU when you had dual screens and the tablet could have acted like a visor?
Nintendo making the "ideal" game for a given system has slipped from their grasp a few times with the last few consoles.
Nintendo 'gon Nintendo.

Oh man Advance Wars. The first one only had unlimited ammo/HP/gas/money/moves and I put in over 1000 HOURS into it using the Action Replay. Good times.

I got "credits" in Hades today. It happens when you escape 10 times and you get an actual ending. Really good wrap up to the story but still gives you a reason to keep playing.

I'm playing the DQ11 demo and I have an hour in but I'm finding it too hard which sucks because I was enjoying it. Imma do the guards one more time and that's it I'm just in the escaping the dungeons part.
Yeah I gave up after the second set of guards ambushed me. I'm done. I hate that FETH has so much exploration, I can't get to a fight. It's like come on already. Maybe I should do Octopath demo now. FETH was a blind buy so I'm putting in at least 20 hours but I'm done buying rpgs without playing them first (FETH is the only I've bought so far).
Hit 200 hrs total with the system.

Yeah Three Houses is about 90% exploration and 10% fighting so be prepared for more of that.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
That's a shame. I thought the whole point of an rpg is to fight. I don't know what it is about DQ11 that draws me. I deleted my save file and started over so I can grind for hours before the castle and hand those guards a can of whoop ass.
I've now spent a little over an hour on the new save and I'm loving this game so much. I'm getting so overpowered. Maybe I'll spend a hundred hours grinding around. The heal spell changed everything. Made a deal with myself that if I reach the end of the demo I will buy the game. I already have over two and a half hours into it.
Two hours into the new save file, level 9. I think it's hilarious that monsters run away from me and I have to chase them. I hate when they flee because I don't get credit for it. Most monsters die after one hit and in most fights I suffer no damage. I'm using the outpost and magic to have unlimited hp. When I get bored I'll save this on two or three different spots so that I can come back to this point in the game. The guards should be a piece of cake by now but I'm not done grinding.
There's an annoying glitch in which the camera will spin for a while then stop on its own and nothing I do makes it stop sooner. Have to look away because it makes me dizzy.

Lots of modern RPG's don't have any turn based fighting at all. Exploring, treasure hunting, and talking to people are usually a major elements in almost all of them though.

Nintendo sent me brand new joycons to replace my drifting ones. Not bad for a console I bought 3.5 years ago.
