And it's not even "new"! (Though it'll be new to me.) It's an updated version of a Wii game.

No remastered Wii game is $60 fun.

I had my heart set on the rumored Wind Waker/Twilight Princess double-pack where they would flirt with a $70 price point.

It got buried in the Zelda news hype but PIKMIN 4! Next year too. Finally! Only been a decade.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I don’t see a thread for it so I’ll post here since I played on Switch.

Return to Monkey Island was absolutely brilliant. I don’t have any kids but I could see the love put in by the devs. If you’re a fan of P&C adventure games, definitely play on Hard rather than Casual. Felt right in line with the older games (and others in its style). Had a smile on my face through the full play through. Tons of humor and callback to the previous games. I hope everyone who’s interested in it buys it to support the team. Can’t recommend it enough.

Bayonetta Voice Actress Replaced By Mass Effect's Jennifer Hale

Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor won’t be returning for Bayonetta 3.

A statement from PlatinumGames to Game Informer (via Nintendo Everything) has confirmed that Taylor, who voiced Bayonetta in the first two games, won’t be back.

“Various overlapping circumstances made it difficult for Hellena Taylor to reprise her role,” they confirmed. “We held auditions to cast the new voice of Bayonetta and offered the role to Jennifer Hale, whom we felt was a good match for the character.”

Hale is perhaps best known as the female voice of Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series, as well as voicing Samus Aran in the Metroid Prime series.

“I understand the concerns some fans have about the voice change at this point in the series, but Jennifer’s performance was way beyond what we could have imagined,” they said. “I’m confident that her portrayal of Bayonetta will exceed our fans’ expectations.”

Bayonetta 3 is currently due for release at the end of the month. A sequel to Bayonetta 2, the game sees the titular heroine tackling Homunculi as she travels to the island of Thule to stop an evil entity known as The Singularity.

Taylor first hinted that she wouldn’t be back for the third installment earlier this year, as fans took to Twitter to say they couldn’t imagine Bayonetta without her voice work.

“Well you might have to,” she replied.

Bound by a confidentiality agreement at the time, she was unable to confirm whether or not she would return for Bayonetta 3, but now we know.

A bit off topic, but do you think we’ll get a video game tie-in to The Super Mario Bros. Movie?

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

If we do, I wouldn't expect it to be any good unless it was just a reskin or something. Even for something like Detective Pikachu, they didn't fast track the sequel game (and the original game IIRC ends in a cliffhanger)

Maybe we get a lego mario movie game because it seems like they can churn those out no problem.

I don’t really expect a movie tie-in game but I would think Nintendo will have a new Mario game of some sort ready for when the movie releases.

Seems to me that video game companies should do rereleases of older titles like the DVD and Blu Ray studios do when a sequel comes out, like put new artwork on the case or something.

Do you mean like a re-release of a Switch game on Switch? It's not like the previous release ever went out of print, or if it's Nintendo, down in price.

Otherwise, studios re-release games all the time as "remasters" on newer generation consoles. Nintendo's been somewhat notable for re-releasing nearly every WiiU title they made on the Switch. Porting a game to a newer generation console is a lot more involved than

There was also the Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation in 2020, and plenty of Super Mario games from NES & SNES on their Nintendo Online service, and Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo Online Expansion Pack.

Super Mario 3D World sorta got new box art when they started packaging in the Bowser's Fury expansion.

I’ve heard rumors that there is a new version of New Super Mario Bros. in the works for Switch but it hasn’t been confirmed to my knowledge.

Just ordered one of these via Best Buy this morning. My son is going to so stoked about this. Rumor was that these were going to be available on November 4th, and they are. Happy hunting.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Just FYI in case anyone missed it, Nintendo has Mario Strikers: Battle League Demo available on their E-Shop. I know they released a Demo a while back, but it was with that weird window where you had to log on at a certain time on a certain date and once that timeframe was over you were outta luck. I missed that, so this is my first chance to play it. Now, there were a few times I was at the store and more-or-less on the verge of buying it but managed to talk myself out at the last minute (I've been burned by too many Nintendo first-party games, sorry...even Mario Golf: Super Rush, which, while I still enjoy it, the shot mechanics suck compared to previous versions, as they overly-simplified the gameplay; and I guess the player selection is okay and the course selection got better once they rebased DLC, but still, if I had to go back in time there's no way I'd pay $79.99 CA for that game). ANYWAY, back to Mario Strikers. I'm glad I didn't buy it. The demo allows you to go through the Training Mode, which was like, "Okay, I'm not really liking this, and even the graphics are merely adequate." During Training Mode, you kind of get to do a couple of quick "training" matches, which I really didn't like. The Demo then let's you do like 7 Exhibition Matches and I think 1 Tournament Cup, and then you're locked out unless you purchase the game. I'm sure I'll use those up at some point, but I was very unimpressed with the training mode and the practice matches I participated in. It seems to me like maybe if I were way younger and was at an age where I had a bunch of roommates or constantly was having people over...sure, in that case, maybe it would be fun to own, just for the multiplayer. But not at $79.99 CA. Hell, I don't think I'd go higher than like $39.99, but seeing as it's Nintendo, it's unlikely it'll get discounted anytime soon. So, anyway, if you haven't played it, maybe try it out...at least before you make the decision to buy. Just my two cents'...

On a side note, it made me think of how much better Sega Soccer Slam was for the Nintendo Gamecube...Now THAT was a soccer game...I never should of sold it but, hey, I was in University and needed whatever money I could raise for tuition and textbooks...But, damn, I'd love to play that game now...

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Apparently this place has 12 free digital games for the Switch, but only if you redeem them daily in order. And the first day is over, so you have to buy the first game for $2 to get the next 11. Don’t have a Switch or insight into this company, but it seems legit.

I miss my GameCube, think it got lost in a move actually. Maybe I’ll check out the Switch finally.

They've done it for a few years now, actually. So far, the games have been ones I redeemed for free in previous years. I'm guessing newer games will be the later giveaways.

I just bought $100 worth recently for the kids to pick up the new Pokemon game, but I can't resist a good deal.

Note that you can only buy 2 of those cards online and it's digital delivery. You can go into a Costco store and they have the same deal, but for four $25 gift cards for 80 bucks, which makes for decent gifts.
