Hey Noonan, how do you like the Lite? I'm thinking of doing the same for my boys since they only play in handheld mode anyway. Do the Lites have the stick drift issue too?
Thanks There is a d-pad lottery where some d-pads don't easily recognize diagonals. It seems like there is some stick drift, or at the very least there is not a design redo that would get rid of the flaw. It's still a bit too early to tell because they're so new, but that's alarming considering you'd have to send in the entire console even if they agree to fix it for free like they do joycons |

Luigi's Mansion 3 review embargo has been lifted and reviews are positive.
Metacritic Score 86 Voucher redeemed. |

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I’ll get it eventually but have a lot of other stuff I still need to play. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I was pleased with how easily and quickly Nintendo replaced my drifting Joy-Con, even though it was way out of warranty. That was until I found the one they sent back immediately stopped working and was literally falling apart because it had no screws in the back. At least they finally agreed to replace that one. Good grief, though. Terrible repair service.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I really wish my Switch’s battery would last longer. I feel like it drains way fast. It only lasted about a couple hours the other day when I was playing a bit of Link’s Awakening and it was fully charged. Almost tempted to get a Lite just for better battery life. |

Just get one of the new regular switches (red box). It has even better battery life than the Lite.

My only thing is I’m not sure if I should do it now or wait it out, because I thought there was a rumored upgraded Switch model coming at some point soon (I think it was more than the battery being upgraded). |

I'm just saying it's probably worth the extra 50 to get a regular if you're contemplating a Lite just for battery life unless you really really like the slightly smaller form factor. You're basically getting two extra joycons and a longer battery life, plus an extra dock.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Can you just plug the Switch into an external phone charging battery? I have never tried

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I ended up getting a Lite to have my boys (and myself) test it out. I also bought the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 game. I like the smaller form factor and how light it is but the screen is small. It is very hard to see the characters and enemies in MUA3. Now I haven't tried any other game yet nor have I tried the same game on the regular Switch in handheld mode. I'm also going to fire up Zelda BotW to see how it plays/looks. Maybe MUA3 is just a game that's better played on a TV screen.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
At first I was struggling for games to get on the Switch, but before I knew it, I now have over 30 games on my "whishlist", and am paralyzed by having too many choices and have no idea what to buy next from that huge list!

Pokemon Sword & Shield in 3-4 days!
Pre-ordered my copy recently. So excited. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
I read that the BD deal (console plus Kart, $299) is for the old-battery console, so I guess I’ll look for deals on the regular standalone console and stock up on sale games.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
So seems like there won't be any decent sale on the Switch this BF. They're just selling the old Switch version with Kart for the regular price.
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Hopefully they'll have a good BF sale on games on the Nintendo shop - I swear, the 30 or so games I have on my wishlist never seem to be on sale.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
So, about that old battery issue: I'm fairly sure ours is the older model and I'd be interested in upgrading that.
A. How do I check to be sure? B. Is it as easy to replace as the battery for the 2DS was? Cause that was a cakewalk. thanks |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
If your model is HAC-001 it’s the original. There’s only been one revision so far, the new one is HAC-001 (-01). The new model just released in like August or September so I would guess you have the original. I have no idea how you’d get to the battery on the Switch. I’m not messing with mine. |
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Yeah, it'll be the original. I'll see how our battery does before I try to open it up. We don't take it traveling that often (we have three XDS systems in our family, so we're set for portable gaming. Plus a GBA SP that's still in good shape).

IMHO, the game is a bit of a mess (hard to see what's going on, terrible camera angles, kinda mediocre all around), even on the big screen. I kind of regret using a voucher on it.

Thanks. Yeah, you are correct. I tried it on the original Switch, handheld and docked mode, and it was still hard to follow the action like you said. It's a shame because it is a good/fun game and does a good job recreating the heroes with their powers. Any plans to release it on PS4/X1?

Nothing official. Maybe in a year as that is how some of these third party exclusivity deals work.
